Two Giveaway Contests And 34 Paleo, Low-Carb & Health Blogs To Kick Off Fall 2011

After some pretty scorching heat these past few months of summer, it sure does feel good to walk outside in the morning greeted by a fresh, cool breeze that signifies the sudden changing of the seasons. I just love the fall season because everything kinda starts back again with kids in school, new television shows, and, of course, football! For some reason or another, I have always looked forward to this time of year because it signifies a new beginning of sorts. Indeed, it’s an exciting few months coming up.

Speaking of exciting, I’ve got not just one, but TWO awesome ways to help you celebrate the brand new season here at the “Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb” blog. Thanks to the generous donations from two amazing companies, you will have a chance to win some pretty cool stuff. Christine and I are gonna get away for a couple of days (our church is having baby dedication during the services today–way too soon for me to put Christine through that just yet after our failed embryo adoption just seven weeks ago), so this should be fun! Here’s what I have for you:

1. U.S. WELLNESS MEATS $100 GIFT CERTIFICATE

People are often asking me where they can get quality grass-fed meats and other nourishing foods for their low-carb/Paleo lifestyle since they can’t find a local farm near them. That’s when I tell them about U.S. Wellness Meats. This company has every quality protein source you could possibly look for, including grass-fed beef, lamb, poultry, pork, bison, rabbit, wild caught seafood, and so much more! I recently ordered some sugar-free and nitrite/nitrate free beef franks that were amazing with some delicious sauerkraut. They even offer up some organ meats for you adventurous types who want to expand your meat-eating to the whole animal!

This contest is so super-easy to enter: Just CLICK HERE and enter your name and e-mail address (it will sign you up for their fabulous newsletter but you can unsubscribe anytime) no later than 11:59PM PST on Monday, October 3, 2011. We will announce the winner of the $100 gift certificate on Tuesday, October 4, 2011. U.S. residents only. GOOD LUCK GUYS!

2. FREE ONE-YEAR SUBSCRIPTION TO PALEO MAGAZINE

People have often asked me over the past few years if there are any good magazines for people who follow a low-carb, Paleo, primal diet and the sad news is there has been a huge void in the marketplace for something like this. I think the key to something like that being successful is the magazine has to include some top-notch writers, it must be aesthetically pleasing to the eye, and it needs to be loaded with quality information to help you stick with your nutritional plan. That’s the combination that perfectly describes the brand new PALEO MAGAZINE.

I first saw a copy of this extraordinary publication at #AHS11 (the Ancestral Health Symposium) in Los Angeles last month and I gotta tell you I was super-impressed! The writers they have on board with this project are a virtual who’s who in the Paleo world–yo what’s up ya’ll Sean Croxton, the adorable sweetheart Sarah Fragoso, Mr. MovNat himself Erwan Le Corre, that quirky yet ever-so-present-on-Twitter persona Diane Sanfillippo from “Balanced Bites,” and many more. It feels good having a magazine back in print again that promotes the ideals that we believe are good and true for optimal health. If you’re not already a subscriber, then I cannot encourage you enough to GRAB A SUBSCRIPTION right away to take advantage of this opportunity. The only way magazines like this can continue to exist is if we support them. And yes, they are working on getting the magazine in local stores.

For one lucky reader, you’ll be entered to win a FREE ONE-YEAR SUBSCRIPTION to PALEO MAGAZINE simply by leaving a comment below telling me why you are excited to have a low-carb/Paleo magazine again. Leave a comment no later than 11:59PM EST on Monday, September 26, 2011 and I’ll pick a winner at random and announce it on my blog on Tuesday, September 27, 2011. Even if you aren’t the winner of this contest, you will most definitely want to get your grubby hands on this magazine!

I’m still getting inundated with brand new Paleo, low-carb and health blogs to share with you and I’ve got 34 more to reveal today! Yes, these are ALL blogs I have never featured here before (somebody recently asked if I repeat the listings–nope, these are ones I have only recently come across). By all means, please leave them a comment, write them an e-mail, and bookmark their page if you liked what you saw on any of these blogs. Here’s a list of all my previous blog listings–check ‘em out here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here and here.

  • Vallahollow

I’ve been living a low-carb lifestyle for the past year and am very excited to see this magazine.  Thank you for doing this giveaway!

  • Sonya

    Awesome, Jimmy!  Thanks!!
I’d love to have a subscription to Paleo Magazine to read and then to have something to pass along to friends and family who aren’t likely to read blogs or listen to the podcasts I recommend when they ask me about my healthy lifestyle. I’ve loaned out books (which I frequently don’t get back), but a magazine would be something short, sweet and informative to give them that they might actually read.

  • John Koenig

As a long- time magazine editor and writer who has seen many wonderful magazines go out of business as the world of information delivery changed, and as someone who follows his passion, I cannot imagine a better topic for a magazine than Paleo.

  • Mike Harinen

I have limited access to the internet while at work and I’m not much into newspapers like all the other employees, so this would give me something to read while everyone else has their respective print!

  • http://twitter.com/sdstone00 Steven Stone

I first heard of the magazine a few weeks ago and unfortunately in the area I live (Portland, OR) there is only 1 store that has it.  I was fortunate to be in the NW PDX area and picked up a copy.  I am so glad I stopped.  I have read the magazine front to back at least 3 times. I just hope I can get back to that side of town soon to pick up the next copy.

  • Julie Anderson

I am very excited to see a Paleo magazine coming out.  I have let my subscription to Runner’s World lapse because it was not meeting my current lifestyle needs.  I’ll definitely be checking this magazine out.

I have been living the low carb lifestyle for several years now and have also been learning more about paleo and trying to incorporate more of that into our way of eating.

  • Susan Winkler

I have lost over 150 pounds following a low carb lifestyle and have been learning about Paleo through a variety of podcasts.  I love the idea of a magazine devoted to  a healthy way of eating.

  • Stephanie Lewis

Any information to keep me motivated toward being a healthier individual is appreciated.  I’m a human sponge regarding paleo eating and soaking up/digesting what the experts have to say is always considered.  The Paleo Magazine sounds like a must read.

  • http://www.facebook.com/debhammel Debbie Evans Hammel

I am new to the Paleo diet world and loving every minute of it.  I have looked at the Paleo Magazine website and would love to have a free subscription!

  • Kathleen

I haven’t yet seen this magazine but am fairly new to low carb. Thanks for the give-a-way.

  • Skcoe

I feel like I have my head in the sand sometimes.  I find out the most pertinent info on LLVLC blog and podcasts.  Thanks for letting us know there is a paleo magazine, I had no idea!  Gifting a subscription might be a good way to spread the news.

I love photography, I love good writing, I love paleo, I love MovNat, and I’d take flipping through real pages over scrolling down a RSS reader any day!

  • Debi Reese

Just 3 months into my Paleo journey and am excited as my life is changing for the better!!  I even have made my dogs paleo (raw foods)!!  It’s not easy being Paleo on a military base in Japan… but the Japanese help by their lack of industrialized agriculture… you see small garden patches all over!!  Its wonderful to see and the food is amazing!!
