Today’s featured lecture is with Swedish family physician Dr. Andreas Eenfeldt, MD from the “Diet Doctor” blog who shares about the exciting developments with the low-carb, high-fat (LCHF) diet in his home nation of Sweden featuring other key voices in this movement, including short presentations from the famous low-carb doctor who was sued for using LCHF with her patients–and won–named Dr. Annika Dahlqvist, MD (listen to my LLVLC Classic episode with her in Episode 655) and another top LCHF leader named Dr. Ralf Sundberg, MD. Here’s the video footage of this presentation:

DR. ANDREAS EENFELDT & LCHF FRIENDS: 2013 Low-Carb Cruise Lecture

Listen to Dr. Andreas Eenfeldt talk about whether calories or carbs matter more, how to stop the “suffering” from obesity, the comeback of calories that has been happening in recent years with the Paleo concept of “food reward,” his concerns about Paleo getting “sucked back into failed conventional wisdom,” the major difference between an obese person and a thin person, the higher insulin levels found in diabetics, high-carb junk food is the leading contributor to weight gain and increased insulin levels, low-carb works best for weight loss and lowering insulin levels, sedentary living makes you more sensitive to carbs, the four main objections people have to low-carb diets, his “fecal deficit” analogy to calories, why Asian people can tolerate starchy “safe” carbohydrate-based starches, examples of LCHF success stories, how he’s raising his young daughter nutritionally, Dr. Ralf Sundberg shares about the work he is doing, his success eating the Atkins diet nine years ago, his research into the biology of consuming saturated fat, fatty acid composition of “clogged arteries” is not saturated fat (it’s the omega-6 polyunsaturated fats), small, dense LDL is a sign of a lack of cholesterol, his look into the political and economic implications of diet in his book (soon to be released in English), Dr. Annika Dahlqvist tells her personal story of obesity, fibromyalgia and IBS pain along with psychological problems impacting her sleep, she didn’t know you could improve these things by changing your diet, how cutting saturated fat and eating more carbohydrates made her health worse, the impact of her daughter’s encouragement for her to start eating low-carb, she tried eating low-carb along with restricted fat and calories with some moderate success, how she learned that eating more fat and cholesterol is good for your health, once she ate more and more fat she got healthier than she’d ever been, she wrote down her diet program and started sharing about LCHF on her blog beginning in 2005, the two dietitians who tried to sue her but the government confirmed that low-carb diets are sound science, the national prominence she started getting after that decision, how the media violently turned against her when she spoke out against the swine flu vaccination, and LCHF continues on strong in Sweden.
