The first full week of every new year is such an exciting time for me because I get to share with you brand new interviews featuring the best interview guests from the previous year. We call it “Encore Week” and the 2012 version has been simply magnificent. We’ve already heard some truly incredible conversations this week with Swedish LCHF physician Dr. Andreas Eenfeldt, Perfect Health Diet author Paul Jaminet, “Blood Sugar 101″ creator Jenny Ruhl and Wheat Belly author and cardiologist Dr. William Davis. But we’ve saved the top vote-getter amongst all my 2011 podcast guests as chosen by my listeners for last (but certainly not least!).

In Episode 529 of “The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore,” we are pleased to have one of the most interesting new characters to come on the Paleo/low-carb scene in the past year named Dr. Jack Kruse. He’s a neurosurgeon from Nashville, Tennessee who made such a dramatic transformation in his own weight and health once he figured out what he now calls “The Leptin Prescription” that has sent him on a righteous rampage to tell everybody and their momma about what they can do to resolve their obesity, diabetes, and chronic disease. And apparently his brash yet confident-in-the-truth style has struck a chord with people after he appeared in Episode 474 in May 2011 to introduce himself to an audience of people hungry for the message he was conveying. Dr. Kruse is hardcore into not just talking about change, but BEING the change that we always talk about seeing happen. Let his infectious enthusiasm rub off on you during this special “Encore Week” 2012 interview.

Listen to Dr. Jack Kruse during “Encore Week” 2012:

  • Why he took off so quickly after beginning his blog in 2011
  • How his plan is “brain surgery without a scalpel”
  • What happened after he was successful following his “Leptin Rx”
  • Why he thinks Paleo/primal/low-carb MDs need to do be doing more
  • His “Factor X” lecture coming on The Low-Carb Cruise
  • His upcoming controversial blog posts, including the “safe starches”
  • Why “context” matters in discussing long-term low-carb effects
  • His assertion that Paleo low-carb is a “calorie-restricted diet”
  • Why people who exercise and eat carbs will “pay a price for that”
  • Special requirements for the morbidly obese who struggle on low-carb
  • Why he believes some obese people need to have bariatric surgery
  • The improvements that happen with liposuction and skin removal surgery
  • Why “looking good” is not a proper motivation for losing weight
  • The importance of keeping perspective in your weight loss journey
  • What he says to people who insist on taking statins for heart health
  • “Why Does Heart Disease Really Occur?”
  • How he’s got his whole family on his plan he believes in it so much
  • Dr. Tom Ballard’s “Lipitor Paradox” YouTube video
  • Whether calories really matter during the “Leptin Reset” period
  • It’s impossible to eat 5 pounds beef but 2 gallons ice cream is easy
  • Why you can’t lose weight by exercising if you are morbidly obese
  • Whether consuming carbohydrates deplete the body of Vitamin C
  • Why Vitamin C is especially important when the body is under stress
  • The Vitamin B13 PQQ supplement that is as good as interval training
  • Whether there are concerns about red meat because of Neu5gc
  • Telomeres are the “ultimate arbiter in what we should do correctly”
  • Any suggestions about what to do regarding chronic daily headaches
  • The imbalances between estrogen and progesterone women deal with
  • The relationship between his torn meniscus and leptin
  • Why a fish oil/krill oil mixture is important to reduce inflammation
  • The importance of learning everything you can about inflammation
  • Whether the damage from poor nutrition can be completely reversed
  • Why people should focus on what they CAN do than what they should have
  • If there research that shows younger have better success on low-carb
  • The mental transformation that has him “back like in my 20′s again”
  • Why weight and health concerns are not always tied to nutrition
  • Why people who struggle should not choose “inaction”
  • Why it’s difficult for people to find success after going off low-carb
  • The most common issue that he sees in people is a “leaky gut”
  • Why dawn phenomenon improves because of “The Leptin Prescription”
  • His reason he recommends not working out until after 5PM
  • The insights he has about intermittent fasting (he’s a fan of it!)
  • You shouldn’t do “Leptin Prescription” if you’re not leptin resistant
  • Whether it is possible to get too much protein in your diet
  • Why whey protein and the protein in steaks are not the same
  • Why Dr. Rosedale’s response to “safe starches” was “awesome”
  • His “respect” for the work I am doing promoting low-carb living

Jimmy thank you for all your effort and work. The information you have gathered here is outstanding and it excite me to know that someday most will know and understand this. It is difficult at times when I want to help family/friends and they will not listen, I know you
      understand that very well.

Listening again to Dr. Kruse and Dr. Davis makes me want to hear more. These doctors’ sharing the experiences of their patients is profound and world needs to hear this. I have read Robb Wolf and Mark Sisson books also and each has helped me learn a little more about my problems. Again a Big Thank You!
