LISTEN ON YOUR SMART DEVICE–NO DOWNLOADING REQUIRED:

**DON’T FORGET: Big changes are happening with the podcast schedule beginning Monday, January 9, 2012 when “The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore” will air THREE times a week, an exciting brand new interactive LIVE call-in podcast called “Ask The Low-Carb Experts with Jimmy Moore” will debut, and “Low-Carb Conversations with Jimmy Moore & Friends” will continue on Fridays. We’re branching out with the low-carb message through the podcasting format even more in 2012 and we’d love to have your financial support and listenership as we seek to educate, encourage and inspire millions more in the years to come!

In Episode 508 of “The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore,” we welcome an incredible personal trainer with a Paleo bent named Jason Seib to talk about the interaction between diet, fitness, sleep, hormone, lifestyle and so much more. You may have seen Jason’s writings before if you are a regular reader of Sarah Fragoso’s “Everyday Paleo” blog where he is a frequent contributor. Of course, Jason does have his own “Primitive Stimulus” blog and offers a beautiful workout facility for his clients in Oregon called Clackamus Physical Conditioning. He believes most of the conventional wisdom regarding fitness and weight loss is just plain wrong. Tune in today to find out what drives this extraordinary man to help so many of his clients every single day with scientifically-based information that is life changing! He can help change your life too.

Listen to Jason Seib talk about nutrition and personal training:

  • His “desperate” need for a life change 17 years ago
  • The influence Robb Wolf had on his move to the Paleo lifestyle
  • Why trainers who just “love to work out” are “perpetuating the problem”
  • His frustration with the “eat less and move more” platitudes
  • Why it tends to be so easy to become a certified personal trainer
  • You can’t fix movement without fixing nutrition first
  • The quirky idiosyncrasies of certain conventional personal trainers
  • How trainers and doctors basically “wash their hands” of people
  • The lack of acknowledgement of the various hormone levels (cortisol)
  • Why he doesn’t have his clients do any cardio exercise
  • Why he’s not a fan of people running to get into shape
  • How The Biggest Loser is “probably shortening…lives”
  • Why Paleo goes well beyond simply what you are eating
  • The natural movements that children engage in that’s lost in adulthood
  • What he does to acclimate his new clients on a new path
  • The vital importance of showing improvements in fitness ability
  • Why giving up grains tends to be “really hard” for most people
  • How cleaning out the bad foods in your house is a “huge first step”
  • The education that there are “no essential carbohydrates” in the diet
  • His disgust for people spewing “hearsay” about nutrition
  • How elite performance and longevity tend to be at odds with each other
  • Why you don’t get more fit in the gym (it’s in the rest and recovery)
  • What the right questions are for people to ask their personal trainers
  • A “massive” project he is working on with Sarah Fragoso coming soon

In today’s second interview, we are pleased to have a low-carb weight loss success story named Othalie Graham, a professional opera singer from Canada who has had a successful career in the industry. But she had one major problem–her weight that got her up to a morbidly obese 400 pounds. Despite the stereotype that opera singers are all overweight, Othalie reveals that behind-the-scenes it is ultra-competitive with a focus on image. That’s why finding an effective way to take the weight off is so important. After coming across the low-carb message reading the “Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb” blog, she applied carbohydrate-restriction to her life to take off the pounds and save her career. Be inspired by this outstanding example of what healthy low-carb living is all about!

Listen to Othalie Graham describe how low-carb saved her opera career:

  • Her low-carb weight loss journey that propelled her opera career
  • Why she always thought she was a lot smaller than actually was
  • How the “fat lady sings” myth was a self-fulfilling prophesy for her
  • The weight loss happening with opera singers that piqued her interest
  • How her agent demanded that she lose weight to further her career
  • The “second measuring tape” moment that opened her eyes to her size
  • Why the stereotype of a fat opera singer is not the reality
  • How her weight was pushing the limits of the scale she stepped on
  • Her “good” health despite morbid obesity at 31 years old
  • The show business aspect of opera singers focused on image
  • How a beautiful woman on an opera poster will sell tickets
  • What she did to cut her weight in half
  • The one-week portion-controlled frozen dinner plan she tried
  • How she “knew” she was addicted to consuming carbohydrates
  • She bought the Atkins book and read low-carb blogs to learn more
  • Her appreciation for the work of “Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb”
  • The easiest thing to incorporate into your life is cutting carbs
  • What her diet looks like while traveling doing opera gigs
  • How low-carb is so convenient for her “insanely busy” lifestyle
  • The late-night eating that is typical of opera singers after shows
  • How marriage had her gain 40 pounds “almost immediately”
  • Her struggle with her fat cells “remembering” being obese
  • How coconut oil totally rocked her low-carb diet progress
  • The vegan rhetoric coming from Sanjay Gupta/President Clinton lately
  • The “fear” opera singers have losing their voice from quick weight loss
  • How you have to go through an “adjustment” to find your support again
  • Why strength training is so important for singers losing weight
  • Why she would “never, ever, ever” change from her low-carb lifestyle
  • How she incorporates a low-carb version of pasta into her diet
  • A YouTube video of her opera singing
  • What influence she has had on fellow opera singers regarding diet
  • The gym memberships offered to opera singers to stay in shape

      Jason Seib is
hilarious. No offence, Jimmy, but some of your science-minded guests get a
little technical and “sciency”. Don’t get me wrong, I love me some
science, but it’s nice to hear someone a little more entertaining for a change.

      Good job, Jimmy!

P.S. I feel like sometimes you, Jimmy, are inside my head, because just as I
think of a question I would have asked someone during a podcast, you ask it!

Thanks Nina! I’m not science-minded naturally either…but very inquisitive. Thank you for listening!
