NOTICE OF DISCLOSURE: http://cmp.ly/3

In Episode 507 of “The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore,” we are super-excited to have veteran health writer Martin Zucker (aka “Marty”) with us to discuss the concepts explained in a book he co-wrote with Clinton Ober and Dr. Stephen Sinatra called Earthing: The Most Important Health Discovery Ever? This “earthing” movement is one of the most intriguing ideas to come along in a while that coincides perfectly with those of us who are trying to hearken back to the days of the Paleolithic era with our diet and lifestyle. If you have never heard of this before, then I highly encourage you to check out the information at the Earthing Institute to get all the details about what is entailed in this reconnection to the energy that comes from the Earth. Marty makes a compelling argument for people getting more in touch with the health-improving free electrons that come from the ground. Listen in and learn more for yourself!

Listen to Martin Zucker describe the concept of “earthing”:

  • Why he shifted from foreign correspondent journalism to health
  • His exposure to many of the top minds in alternative medicine
  • How working in news and interviewing helped him learn the truth
  • The experts he interviewed and how it led him to “earthing”
  • What “earthing” is and why it is so important
  • Why it is important to walk barefoot on the ground
  • How to apply “earthing” principles while inside your home
  • The areas of your health that are improved by “earthing”
  • Why the cultural evolution to wearing shoes was unnatural
  • How to practically start “earthing” right away
  • Why people don’t naturally go barefoot anymore
  • Who Clint Ober is and why he’s the man behind “earthing”
  • The breakthrough moment that came from his cable background
  • How his body was impacted when he first started “earthing”
  • The scientific research he conducted on the “earthing” concept
  • The conductive sheets and more to help people “earth” better
  • How much “earthing” is necessary to provide the benefits
  • The deeper sleep and restoration that comes from “earthing”
  • Where you can purchase the “earthing” products: Earthing.com

Today’s second interview, we are so pleased to welcome registered Physician Assistant Karen Paris who currently works with former podcast interview guest Dr. Fred Pescatore (listen to my interview with him in Episode 483). She spent nearly two decades working with the late, great Dr. Robert C. Atkins in his complementary medicine practice in New York City and is an ardent defender of healthy low-carb living. Like so many others who were privileged to have worked with Dr. Atkins, Karen is dedicated to carrying on the Atkins legacy to a whole new generation of people struggling with weight and health issues. You’ll be encouraged in your Atkins/low-carb lifestyle from this dedicated disciple of the man himself!

Listen to Karen Paris share why she appreciates low-carb:

  • Her interest in nutritional medicine from the very beginning
  • The chance meeting she had with Dr. Atkins who hired her
  • How much of a mentor Dr. Atkins was to those who worked for him
  • The expectations he had for the employees who worked with him
  • What happened to the low-carb movement after Dr. Atkins died
  • The various “tweaks” to the low-carb message that have happened
  • How Dr. Atkins would be in favor of organic, grass-fed foods
  • Her response to the “low-carb isn’t Paleo” controversy
  • The work she does with people dealing with food allergies
  • Why gluten is probably never a good idea to consume
  • How inflammatory markers decrease eating a gluten-free diet
  • The sad nature of the concept of “healthy whole grains”
  • Her frustration with the products at bariatrics conference
  • The argument her 4-year old had about eating low-fat yogurt
  • How that kid grew up to defend Atkins in a nutrition class
  • Whether we will ever see changes in nutritional perceptions
  • The frustration over The Food Network ignoring low-carb
  • How a low-carb adaptation of food television would be easy
  • Whether she might be joining us on the 2012 Low-Carb Cruise
  • The regular low-carb updates at her “Karen’s Corner” blog
