In Episode 481 of “The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore,” we’ve got one thrill-packed podcast in store for you with two fantastic interviews featuring some remarkable health influencers. First, we’ll hear from raw primal diet advocate Aajonus Vonderplanitz who shares his extraordinary tale of beating a series of health issues through unique nutritional changes and how others can stay disease-free for life. The audio portion of this interview was a bit funky at times–I was speaking with Aajonus via Skype who was deep within the jungles of the Philippines at the time. But you’ll be blown away by his inspiring tale of victory over more health problems as a child and young adult than most of us deal with in a lifetime!

Listen to Aajonus Vonderplanitz talk about how raw primal living changed his life:

  • Why he had no choice but to make changes in his nutrition
  • The tetanus and Polio shots that led him to some horrific health woes
  • How he got introduced to raw foods and it cured him of his autism
  • How raw food “fruititarianism” nearly killed him
  • What kept him going through his teenaged years and early 20s with health issues
  • Why “dying would have been a relief” when he was going through this experience
  • What motivated him to start eating raw fats on his newfound primal diet
  • The “difficult” transition from being a vegetarian to eating a raw rabbit
  • His initial resistance and fear of consuming raw meat
  • Why he believes cooking destroys the health benefits of consuming meat
  • How four Indian tribes taught him that raw meat was indeed the answer to health
  • The mushroom poisoning that brought back his leukemia while living in Georgia
  • Why he ate 1-2 pounds of raw butter daily to preserve his liver
  • Why he wrote We Want To Live and how it has helped other people
  • The success he has seen helping cancer patients and others with terminal illnesses
  • Why he doesn’t even consider having a study conducted on his raw food primal diet
  • How he mentored Dr. Joseph Mercola about natural health principles
  • What he included in his raw foods “recipes” book and the DVD series

In the second interview, we are pleased and honored to welcome the great nutrition-minded physician Dr. Joseph Mercola, author of the #1 Natural Health web site on the Internet today at Mercola.com. He’s become incredibly passionate in 2011 about two specific subjects of interest regarding fitness and health that he discusses during today’s conversation: intermittent fasting and an interval training program called Peak 8. Dr. Mercola explains why he feels these two critical ingredients are the key for people seeking fat loss and improved overall health. Tune in and decide for yourself what YOU think.

Listen to Dr. Joseph Mercola offer up alternative natural health therapies:

  • What led him to the subject of natural health and exercise
  • Why endurance training can actually cause more harm than good
  • How medical school “brainwashed” him into thinking drugs were the answer
  • The 20 million pageviews to his health web site to correct the “misinformation”
  • How his educated patients forced him to get more involved online
  • The prominence of conventional health information from the “traditional media”
  • An overview of what intermittent fasting (IF) is and why he has started it in 2011
  • Whether intermittent fasting is mimicking the methods of our early ancestors
  • The science that supports the benefits of intermittent fasting
  • Who has trouble adopting and applying the principles of IF
  • How IF is “one of the best approaches for resolving hypoglycemia”
  • The opposition that the Low-Carb Cruise panel had to the use of IF
  • His unique high-intensity interval training (HIIT) called Peak 8 from Phil Campbell
  • Why you shouldn’t sprint to do Peak 8 and why a recumbent bike or elliptical is ideal
  • How using a treadmill tends to make the Peak 8 more “dangerous” than it needs to be
  • Why you don’t want to necessarily pump up the intensity on the machine
  • The “mistake” he made in the frequency of Peak 8–only once a week is best
  • His concerns over the PACE program from Dr. Al Sears
  • Why there’s no need for aerobic or cardio activity; anaerobic and strength training best
  • How “pushing to failure” and “sweating bullets” is necessary with weight lifting
  • How he mixes the “super-slow” method going down and “explosive” method going up

In March 2009, I stopped eating sugar and flour. And I started to learn about “living la vida low carb”. It was DIRECTLY due to Jimmy’s site that I able to learn so much on my own, with podcasts, links, articles and book suggestions… and be encouraged to keep going at times when the going got hard. And it DID get hard at times. But I’m still hanging in there, still learning.

I’m on a limited income, but I just hit the Donate button. I figure if all of us “little guys” out here could donate even a dinky amount… it would add up tremendously, and keep Jimmy’s site funded. He has helped me so much. And if he’s helped you, and if you are able, maybe consider hitting that Donate button, too?? Even a dinky amount will add up. (if you insist on a BIG donation, I’m sure Jimmy wouldn’t object! LOL!)
