Check out “My Favorite Health Podcasts” listing along the right-hand side of the blog for even more fabulous shows to listen to.)

Do you realize that’s upwards of 25% (one year ago this number was about 10%) of the best of the best Fitness & Nutrition podcasts airing online today providing information to their listeners that is accurate about eating more healthy fats, reducing the consumption of carbohydrates, especially refined ones, from your diet, and other key lifestyle interventions to make yourself as optimally healthy as possible? It’s not more of the same old low-fat, eat more healthy whole grain nonsense that has gotten us fatter and sicker than we’ve ever been! If the fact that there are so many Paleo, primal and low-carb friendly podcasts out there doesn’t make a huge statement that this way of eating is gaining in popularity by leaps and bounds and deserves a nationally-syndicated radio show RIGHT NOW, then I don’t know what does.

I’ve often shared with people that my dream one day in the not-too-distant future is to host such a show, sharing quality health and nutrition information with millions of listeners, booking engaging interview guests who can articulate the basic principles of nutrition that people are completely oblivious to right now, and inviting skeptical and intrigued listeners to call in to talk about these things in an open forum without the canned conventional wisdom answers that tend to get put out there by the media. If we’re ever going to change the way people think about what healthy living is, then we have to meet them where they are and offer up viable alternatives to what they currently believe. In the meantime, I guess we’ll just have to keep on taking over the iTunes charts with even more quality podcasts…and that could include YOU!

At PaleoFX in Austin, Texas last month I laid down a challenge to the people who attended one of the sessions I moderated on taking this health message to the mainstream. I told the audience there that if you like to write, then start a blog. If you enjoy talking, then you should start a podcast. I didn’t have experience doing either one of those things before I did it–and now I’m honored and blessed to have one of the best in both categories. Dream big or dream small–either way, you’ll hit your target!

Since returning from that conference I have been contacted by no less than five people who said they wanted to get in on the podcasting action and start their own shows. AWESOME! Many more have told me about their brand new blogs advocating for the Paleo low-carb principles. YES! All I can say is BRING IT ON! Once people start seeing us everywhere sharing truths about nutrition and health, then maybe they will start to embrace these concepts for themselves. If your life has been changed as a direct result of shifting to a Paleo, primal or low-carb plan, then we need your voice to join us in this battle for the hearts and minds of the people who desperately need answers for their weight and health woes. Are you willing to be the light in the life of someone who desperately needs education, encouragement and inspiration to start this journey?

If you decide to start your own blog, podcast or even YouTube video channel, drop me an e-mail at livinlowcarbman@charter.net. I’d be happy to assist in any way that I can. WE ARE MAKING A DIFFERENCE! And even if you don’t start your own podcast, there is a quick and easy way for you to help those of us who do have a show. Click on the links I provided above and leave a review about it. New reviews help attract attention to podcasts which then helps the shows climb the charts even more. I’d REALLY love to see Robb Wolf knock Jillian Michaels out of that top spot. If you can carve out a few minutes to write a review for the shows you listen to and enjoy, it would mean so much to the people who invest their time and energy into making them. THANK YOU!

Paleo Summit Encore/Upgrade And PaleoFX Super Fan Contest

1

ancestral

Austin

diet

health

Jimmy Moore

low-carb

Paleo

Paleo Summit

PaleoFX

Sean Croxton

Texas

TX
<guid

It was a spectacular event put on by my fellow podcaster Sean Croxton from “Underground Wellness” called “Paleo Summit” and featured a literal who’s who of the top Paleo/low-carb superstars, including people like Mark Sisson, Dr. Jack Kruse, Nora Gedgaudas, Mat Lalonde, Denise Minger, Chris Kresser, Dr. Cate Shanahan, and many more. Sean even gave me the privilege of making a presentation during this prestigious event on the final day. The event was such an overwhelming success that Sean decided to offer a special ENCORE special for today, March 5, 2012 only featuring the three most popular talks. CLICK HERE by midnight tonight to access these complimentary talks from Dr. Tom O’Bryan on “The Musculoskeletal Connection to Gluten and Autoimmune Disease,” Chris Kresser with “An Update on Cholesterol” and Dr. Jack Kruse discussing “Leptin Circadian Cycles.” If you missed any of the other 20 presentations, Sean also has made available a very special deal to access all 23 presentations that include video, audio and transcripts of each plus some FREE bonus e-books and videos. href=http://www.ancestryfoundation.org>“Ancestral Health Symposium” (AHS) that took place at UCLA in August 2011 (AHS11) and again later this year at Harvard University in Boston, Massachusetts (AHS12). While that event brought together a meeting of the minds in the ancestral community for a very important coalescence of the work being done, there’s always a little something more that can be done to bring this message directly to the people who need to hear it the most. That’s what PaleoFX taking place at the University of Texas in Austin, TX March 14-17, 2012 seeks to do. Again, this is a virtual anybody who’s anybody in the Paleo/low-carb community attending: Robb Wolf, Mark Sisson, Chris Kresser, Dr. Jack Kruse, Diane Sanfilippo, Erwan Le Corre, Amy Kubal, Diana Rodgers, Dr. Ron Rosedale, Nora Gedgaudas, Dr. Emily Deans, CJ Hunt, Paul Jaminet, and many more! I’m excited about attending this event and it will be one of several highlights of my year (the Low-Carb Cruise and AHS12 being the others!).

The organizers of PaleoFX are running a “Super Fan Contest” that will give the winner two FREE PaleoFX tickets, hotel accommodation throughout the event, and the limited-ticket VIP party access on Wednesday evening to rub elbows with the top names in Paleo/low-carb. Pretty cool, huh? If you’ve already purchased tickets for PaleoFX, then they will refund your ticket price for you and make sure you are taken care of as the winner. Here’s how you can enter to win:

1. Create a video of yourself that explains and demonstrates why you are the PaleoFX Super Fan. You video may employ creativity, persuasion, costume, ancestral health principles, or whatever you’d like. Videos will be judged on the content and not the technical quality of the video. So, if you have a camera of any kind, get ‘er done!

2. Upload the video to YouTube, Vimeo, or other online video web site. Post a link to the video on the PaleoFX Facebook wall as a separate post and indicate that it is a Super Fan entry.

3. The five finalist videos will be the five entries with the most Facebook likes. The PaleoFX team will then choose a winner from among the five finalists.

4. Videos must be posted no later than 11:59 PM Central time this Friday, March 9, 2012.

GOOD LUCK! Hope to meet you in Austin, TX next week at PaleoFX!

Sean Croxton’s ‘Paleo Summit’ Begins February 26, 2012

1

ancestral

diet

health

healthy

low-carb

nutrition

Paleo

Paleo Summit

primal

Sean Croxton

weight loss
<guid

The weight loss/fitness industry is booming with business every January with television ads, new gizmos and diet programs to help you take the weight off and doing everything possible to capitalize on the desperation of a nation that just keeps getting fatter and fatter and sicker and sicker every single day. And predictably, almost like clockwork, many of these same people who start scrambling to find ways to shed the pounds, get fitter and make their health the best it can be start to lose that rip-roaring enthusiasm when they don’t necessarily see the immediate success they had longed for. Their once-unshakable excitement begins to wane a bit and that gung-ho attitude of getting serious about weight loss and obtaining good health is quickly replaced by a nonchalant trip through the McDonald’s drive-thru for a Big Mac, large fries and a Coke. This scenario seems to repeat itself year after year after year. What the heck is going on here? What is the disconnect between what seems to be a genuine, deep desire to do the right things to make weight loss and better nutrition happen and then actually doing it? That’s exactly what today’s podcast guest explores in his exciting new e-book called Sean Croxton from “Underground Wellness.” This exuberant voice for sharing alternative health principles to the masses has been out there doing his thing for many years starting with his wildly-popular <a

The result of conducting all of these amazing interviews over the past few years was the perfect opportunity for Sean to pull out some key nuggets worth sharing with others in an e-book (and possibly soon a paper version of the book, too) he calls <a

Listen to her share why you have to be aware of the contaminants in your indoor and outdoor environment, why eating a clean nutrient-dense diet may not protect you from possible toxins, the problem with the chemicals sprayed on new clothes and carpets that can impact your brain health, why more and more people are experiencing “road rage,” why switching to consuming organic foods and washing them thoroughly is so vitally important for your health, the “deadly dozen” foods to avoid because of pesticides, what fruits and veggies are the highest in antioxidants, why eating whole eggs are a great source of choline and not harmful to your health, how eating fat can help you burn fat, the quality fatty acids found in fish oil and why they are so essential to healthy brain health and fertility, the nutritional labeling problem with many fish oil supplements, and the three major supplements for improving brain health. Ward off the winter depression before it hits by making sure your brain is as healthy as it can possibly be!

Josh Trent from “Wellness Force” to talk about his unique story about how he got so interested in health and nutrition after experiencing changes for himself. He’s quite an enthusiastic champion for living a lifestyle devoted to proper diet and fitness. Listen to Josh discuss how he went from being an athlete in high school to experiencing weight and health problems shortly after he graduated, why he quit his job and moved to Hawaii to get back into shape, what led him to becoming a personal trainer, how he ate a “death” low-carb plan to shed the pounds because it was what worked for him, why failing at weight loss is a necessary ingredient in being ultimately successful, the sample menus of what he ate during his weight loss, the biochemical “thumbprint” that each of us has that determines what nutritional plan is best for the individual, discovering the “balance” that was necessary for him, whether he was concerned about consuming dietary fat from sources like coconut oil, the plethora of scientific research in support of low-carb diets, the organizations out there promoting negative images about healthy low-carb living, the exercise strategy he uses with his clients especially for people with adrenal fatigue, how he trains for people who want to run a marathon and why most people go overboard on “carb-loading,” how the sweat rate doesn’t mean you’re exerting more, why getting the right kind of “more” exercise as you progress, his thoughts on the super-slow weight lifting concept, his reaction to the 2010 Dietary Guidelines that are forthcoming, his infamous McDonald’s “pull-ups” YouTube video, the devious marketing that McDonald’s implores to pump their products, if eating organic an important element in health, why a “caveman diet” tends to be better than anything else, why overeating on a real whole food is not as bad as eating too much junk food, the unmistakable brain/mental connection to weight loss, whether sugar is really killing us, why agave is not a health food, the reason genetically-modified organisms were created and the unintended consequences of GMO foods, the negative implications of known neurotoxins like artificial sweeteners, why the obsession over calories is futile and how counting calories can be detrimental, the stressors that are raising cortisol levels, and some parting encouragement for my listeners! Josh is a really awesome guy with a lot of good things to say about living healthy. ENJOY!

There are three ways you can listen to Episode 406:

1. <a
