They get damaged by excess consumption of processed foods, trans fats, and carbs, for example.

AD drugs are nothing more than chemical straightjackets. Our modern society says to take a pill and feel happy instead of face our issues head on. Trust me, God would not have you to push pills for something you should be taking up to Him in prayer.

High cholesterol is not an issue unless your arteries are damaged. This is the first time that I've heard that anti-depressants raise cholesterol. I have to take an AD to lead a normal life (and I thank God for the ones on the market today), and my cholesterol has definetly gone up. I never had it tested before Atkins, but while on Atkins it's gone up over 60 points in 2 years.

Do you know which ADs raise cholesterol? I know Zoloft didn't because my first cholesterol test while on Zoloft was only 151. Then I switched to Wellbutrin (which didn't work for me), and then to Celexa (which is working great). My last cholesterol test was 214.

However, until I know more I'm still blaming the eggs. I'll find out if cutting back on eggs helps when I get retested this coming summer.

“If your cholesterol is too low, you are likely to be extremely unhappy, with a higher likelihood of suicidal behavior,” Dr. Li contended. “We also know that drugs against depression increase cholesterol.”

Ok, whoa whoa whoa! Be unable to get funding for new research? Get shunned? Get run over by a steam-roller with the words "Pharma-something" etched somewhere in invisible ink.

I could hug this guy, another pioneer crying out in the wilderness.

Wonder when he will lose his job?
