It' s not a matter of the government telling us what to do, it's a matter of getting OUR government agencies to more closely follow our needs. It does start in the home, and then it proceeds to the neighborhood, the city, the state and then the federal. We are responsible at every turn. There are many things we have to take back as citizens, including the corporate-owned Congress. Both parties accept too much money from special interests, and those effects go back down the chain through our fed, our state, our city, our neighborhood, and then our own home. I certainly understand the uphill battle we face trying to change the mindset of a country led by a government hell bent on making us gorge ourselves on carbohydrates. But that doesn't mean that same government needs to be telling us how to eat. If people don't care enough about themselves to do something about their obesity, then why should the government? You do realize that with our government’s subsidies for corn/wheat/soybeans (starches), and no govt intrustion for protein/veg, that if we all went appropriate-carb on our shopping trip next week, there wouldn’t be enough food?

Just wanted to tweak you a little on – it is truly everyone’s problem, at the personal and group (political) level.
