Pictures Worth More Than A Thousand Words For July 2012

I’m still away for a few more days having a good time spending time with Christine’s side of the family in Indiana. I’ll be back in the swing of things with my blog and podcasts on Monday, but here’s a brand spankin’ new segment of my “Pictures Worth More Than A Thousand Words” series for you to enjoy. My wife Christine regularly sends me lots of cat pictures which you’ll see today and I’ve seen quite a few absurd marketing claims of food products that will simply make you shake your head. In case you’ve missed any of my previous posts in this series, check ’em out here: June 2011, August 2011, September 2011, October 2011, November 2011, December 2011, January 2012, March 2012, April 2012 and June 2012. Now here’s more pictures for you to enjoy for July 2012:

We had a great time at Dana Carpender’s Low-Carb Meet & Greet last Saturday at her home (which was TOTALLY AWESOME, by the way!) and my buddy Amy Dungan decided to surprise me with a very apropos T-shirt in light of some of the recent haters that have been yapping their chops lately:

How appropriate! Speaking of appropriate, I think this canine has the right idea in light of the high heat we’ve been experiencing lately:

This brings a whole new meaning to “hot dog.” LOL! Well, that dog might be chillin’, but this cat has hit the jackpot:

Unfortunately, not all cats get to eat such a carnivorous diet:

Ha ha! Poor kitty. At least this one figured out quickly that cat shall not live by veggies alone:

Trust me, cats know what’s good for them:

And what better food can there be than this:

My wife Christine would agree with that since she eats her fair share of bacon. This is how her face looks when you just mention the word:

Hey, if you choose the bacon then why can’t you have both:

Bacon is okay, but give me some butter! Check out what happened when my sister-in-law Jennifer decided to put a block of butter in the microwave to melt:

Too funny! Looks like even the butter itself opens up its mouth over the awesomeness of yummy, delicious and healthy butter. For those people who still fear butter for whatever reason, the legendary Julia Child has some sage words of advice for you:

YES! That’s hilarious! Okay, I just discovered a SURE-FIRE way to burn 800 calories in just a half-hour:

Okay, not the same thing, but it’s cute. As more and more of us are taking back control of our own health, this conversation with a non-friendly low-carb doctor is probably more the norm than the exception (by the way, you can find a low-carb doctor in your area here):

Sad but true. While Christine was getting her physical therapy treatments after her recent neck surgery, I saw this excellent graphic hanging up on the wall about their philosophy on health:

That’s really good! Low-carb living along with a good exercise routine gets you most of the things on that list. You know how people use cost as an excuse for buying fast food. Well check out this infographic that shows a comparison of the cost of a McDonald’s meal for four with a chicken and potatoes and a beans and rice meal for four–this is quite enlightening:

The sooner people realize how much money they could save and how much healthier they could eat at home, the better off both their financial and physical health will be! But even eating convenience foods at home are problematic despite the health claims they make like this Tyson chicken ad promotes:

Trust me, if I ate those then I’d definitely be hungry again in less than two hours! This next one touting the “goodness” of another Tyson product just about made me hurl:

Did you notice at the bottom when it says these bread bowls are made with “high-quality ingredients?” Oh yeah, what the heck would that be? UGH! As if this weren’t bad enough, have you seen this new breakfast beverage being served in restaurants:

Yes, that’s sugary orange juice mixed with HFCS-infested Mountain Dew. Are we TRYING to give people diabetes? Sheez! And Edy’s is so desperate to get people to buy their product that they fool people into believing consuming their product is like consuming fruit:

Hey, how about just eating the fruit instead? The makers of Splenda are no better in the marketing of their useless sugar blends by focusing on calories while encouraging people make a carbohydrate-laden cake with it:

Are we ever going to get out of this nutritional abyss? Someday…someday. And finally, I couldn’t help but chuckle when I saw this ad from Smart Balance promoting their “heart-healthy” omega-3 fat milk and margarine, but then it’s also “fat free?” How can you both have fats from omega-3s and make it simultaneously fat free? One of these things is not like the other:

Unbelievable! But you notice in that ad they never reveal that “omega 3s” are a fat. I guess this just means we have a whole lot more education to share in the years to come. Don’t worry, that WILL happen here. If you have any pictures that you think fit within the theme of this “Pictures Worth More Than A Thousand Words” series, then e-mail the link or the photo itself to me at livinlowcarbman@charter.net. You could see your picture show up in a future post here at my blog. I appreciate you reading and I look forward to being back in full swing again with you next week.

She’s been very honest about her struggles at her blog much in the same way I have been about mine. This isn’t the failure of low-carb. It’s the difficulty of dealing with unmanageable metabolic issues.

Try, “It’s the difficulty of dealing with unmanageable addictions”. — ie, bacon is loaded with stuff that is bad for us. Try 100% Ground Pork, just like ground beef, only pork. I fry mine about a half inch thick and two or three pounds at a time and fried crisp on the outside. It’s delicious and I lose weight and stay on diet while being fully satiated this way. — I eat the whole thing. Once a day, everyday. — I love it. I’m officially on my way to a 180# weight loss, once again. Thanks TB
