I get the 90% lean, 10% fat middle kind.

That's the middle kind?

I guess it all depends on where you live, or even on your particular store's stock.

The store I frequent most often has 93%, 85% and 80%. Some stores around here carry ground beef varying from 75% as their fattest to 87% being their leanest. Another store carries at least 4 different percentages between 65% to 97%.

I don't see a bias in asking if people take the skin off their chicken or by lean ground beef - some people do!

They could have worded it better, perhaps by giving two choices instead of yes/no. Like: 1) I eat chicken with skin. 2) I eat chicken without skin.

And there's 3 main type of ground beef, not just regular and lean. I buy the medium one. Too much fat drains off of the regular and the lean doesn't have much fat. I get the 90% lean, 10% fat middle kind.

I took part in their study. I sent them this letter "I think your questionaire is very poorly designed. It seems to be obsessed with questions about fat in the diet and whether the dieter takes steps to avoid it like cutting out the fat in meat and chicken before we eat it. The way I lost the weight and kept it off is by embracing the low carb way of eating (Atkins). I eat only 40-60 gr. of carbohydrates per day and plan on eating that way for the rest of my life. Also I greatly improved my lipid numbers by eating this way. Yet there is no place in that extensive questionaire to show this. I have to wonder whether you people reached a foregone conclusion before even sending out the questionaires."

I love filling out online surveys about what foods I eat, or which processed foods I'd rather buy. I'm sure i mess with their results!

When I get to goal and keep it off for a year I fully intend to let them know!

Heh.

Maybe someone should start an "unbiased" survey of people who have lost/tried to lose weight on a low fat diet, and either failed to lose weight, gained weight, or lost weight and immediately gained it back after becoming sick to death of being hungry all the time!
