Getting some of them behind this documentary might help...couldn't hurt! I've never seen SuperSize Me but am more interested now to see it and Fat Head to compare...

I have read several times over the last few years of quite a few celebrities that cut carbs, even short term, to lose weight for a role or to get into shape for a role in a film or show. Quick: name me the last response to a documentary that got even art house distribution. And before you say there aren't any, consider the robust set of answers to Michael Moore's work. And consider that MM's docs are the highest grossing docs of all time, by a lot over Supersize Me. There's not really a market. And that's before we address the production values of something like the Guy from CSPI animation.

2- So, there's no obesity epidemic. The shift to carbohydrate laden diets has had no real effect. The shift to larger portion sizes at all levels of society also has had no effect. This is essentially what Tom would have us believe. All three. If you accept that high carb = bad, you'd have to grant that larger portion sizes with more carb and stable fat and protein would have an effect on a lot of people. Or, carbs aren't that bad. Or calories don't matter, even grossly. I'll stick with Taubes (also touted by you and Dr. Eades) who suggests that macronutrients do matter and people are, generally speaking, fatter than they used to be, even adjusting for age. Maybe Tom doesn't live in the right place. You'd never know there was an obesity problem living in Los Angeles, though in Kansas City, Washington DC and St. Louis, MO, it's all pretty obvious (I have spent the last 10 years across LA, KC, DC and St. Lou).

#3- I looked at two days of his food log. It doesn't correspond to how most people (90%+) eat fast food. Day 1: 2 Egg Macs, 1 muffin total. That's at least 15g of carb passed. Lunch and dinner, Double QP Cheese, but no fries? Dessert: Carb Option dessert? Only someone on an LC diet eats like this, only they don't eat the bun on the QP's. I'm not suggesting the Spurlock is 100% perfect, but I don't think Tom could do what he's claimed to do using Morgan's groundrules (eat everything on the menu at least once, eat any specials, supersize when offered, and get meals). Nevermind that he ate at Boston Market in addition to fast food joints.

I suspect, given a wide distribution that's not going to happen, Tom will have his very own answering documentary. Or at least a You Tube video response, that picks all of his flaws.

Remaining interested in the argument that it's the carbs (and soy). Not particularly interested in what's wrong with Morgan Spurlock or McDonalds.

Hiya Jimmy,

#1 – This movie that you and Dr. Eades are touting is unlikely to get distribution.
