He has come a long way, but I believe that Manuel should drop weight slowly with the help of physicians. Physcial
therapist should be assisting also to get all his limbs moving to burn some calories. If he dropped weight too fast it would be dangerous. He’s a charming man with a heart of gold. I hope he reaches his goal and continues to lose weight. He also needs support from his family so he
doesn’t eat the wrong foods.

I disagree with Kamran’s suggestion on the Adkins diet, I had a friend who collapsed, due to his strict following of the diet. I don’t know the details but he worked out a lot, while on the Adkins diet, and he became anemic or something. I am under the opinion that if you can gain that much weight naturally, then he should be able to loss it too. I hope he is eating less as well as following the diet.

Manuel’s weight gain was gradual and so should his weight loss be. It can be very harmful to the body’s organs to lose weight too rapidly. Yes there will be plateaus but his activity can be adjusted to affect that.

I saw the special on him. Frankly, for him, the Zone diet is just too slow. The Zone diet is more for people who are just overweight or slightly obese. Manuel is “the fattest man alive”, so his needs are much different. He needs a stricter form of Atkins to save his life, way in Ketogenic levels, possibly an induction-type phase until he lost 800 pounds. The Zone is just gonna take too damn long, and from what I remember in the special, Manuel’s weight loss started slowing down significantly, even reaching a plateau at around 800 pounds.
