2012 Low Carb Down Under Australian Speaking Tour Update

Hey “Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb” blog readers, just a quick check-in with you from the land down under here in the great country of Australia. We have only been here a few days so far (FINALLY acclimated to the 16-hour time difference!) and are already having such a spectacularly good time with the Low Carb Down Under (LCDU) Tour taking us across the Eastern coast of Oz while meeting so many outstanding people along the way who love low-carb, Paleo and healthy eating. I’ve been super-energized by the enthusiasm the people here show for this way of eating and it encourages me that great things are coming to Aussies, Americans and people around the world in the years to come.

I don’t have a lot of time to post much about what’s happening so far, but check out the official Facebook page for LCDU to see photos and responses from people who attended the events in Melbourne (260 people) and the last-minute addition of Fish Creek (50 people). We’re off to Byron Bay, Sydney, Adelaide and Brisbane for the rest of the tour that concludes on December 3, 2012 when Christine and I will sadly be coming back home to the United States. In the meantime, we’ve got plenty more travel, lectures, people to meet, and LOTS of fun to soak in. I’ll try to give you a feel for how this is going through the photos we are taking. When I can get a higher speed Internet connection, I’ll upload videos for you to watch as well. I miss my readers, but this trip has been so incredibly AMAZING as a once-in-a-lifetime experience! Enjoy the links, videos and photos that I’ll be updating and wish me well as I share my low-carb story and my very first lecture series ever about my n=1 nutritional ketosis experiment!

Do they even have feed lots in Australia? Looks like fun.

      • LLVLCBlog

Everything I’ve seen is fresh, quality food. We could learn a lot in America about sustainable farming and real food from the Australians.

Sadly we do have feedlots, Jeffry!

Feedlots – yet another export from America!

    • Kathy Lacasse

You are looking fantastic! What a great adventure you are on, your life and your trip. To be able to share all the information you have been working hard to gather over this long journey is very moving and I for one am grateful.

      • LLVLCBlog

THANK YOU! It’s been quite a ride.

    • Debby

      Wow! Just Wow! :)

      • LLVLCBlog

My thoughts about this place exactly.

    • Jana

Wow! Grass Fed stickers on their meat. I wish we had that here in the Sacramento area.

Jimmy, you need to either get new clothes or have your clothes taken in by a tailor. Way too baggy on you. Congrats!

      • LLVLCBlog

Yes, the quality of food here is AMAZING! I’ll be buying new clothes once I’m finished with the experiment. Nice “problem” to have. :)

Why not just stay? Oz is a fabulous country. You don’t actually have to come back, you know. :)

      • LLVLCBlog

You don’t know how bad I’d LOVE to stay here. :)

    • Rodney_Hide

Thanks Jimmy and Christine for making the trip. Your presentation in Sydney was truly wonderful. Inspirational and chocabloc with knowledge and experience. The entire day was sensational. Thank you for shining the light.

      • LLVLCBlog

Awesome to be there Rodney. Hope to come back again.

So not only do they have coloured money, they also use the Metric system. Sounds like a warmer version of Canada! lol

Laugh. We have more snow here than Switzerland (in winter) and you can walk to our tallest mountain for a picnic.

I think I know where I want to go on a vacation. I am going to start saving now. Unless I get lucky and win a words with friends tournament prize!

    • LLVLCBlog

This trip has been whirlwind magical. I can’t wait to come back!

    • Cassiel

Jimmy, thank you SO much for coming to Australia and sharing with us not only your presentations but also your enthusiasm for low carb, your love of life, and your wonderful personality. :D It was an honour to meet you in person and see your presentation at the Sydney event! And although I was shy and awkward, thank you for being so kind when I came up to say hi after the event was over. I was so touched when you gave me a hug. :D I know you meet a lot of people and likely don’t remember them all, but you are an inspiration to many, so it was something special that I’ll always remember!

We’re currently looking into getting the tester so we can start trying our own nutritional ketosis experiment here! Your enthusiasm was catching. :D My only problem is I can’t do dairy (gives me bad gastro) and avocados make me nauseous (gah), but I’m figuring I can just add lots of coconut cream and coconut products to my diet instead!

Thanks again — Australia loves having you, and you’ll always be welcome here!!

      • LLVLCBlog

Thank you Cassie! It was an honor to be here.

    • Lena

Thank you for sharing. I now need to sit down and watch all those videos. As an Australian living in the USA, I got a little teary seeing photos of my home city of Brisbane. It is such a wonderful country and I’m glad you enjoyed yourselves so much!!

      • LLVLCBlog

Oh man, I miss it already. Going back in 2014.

    • Karen

Thank you so much for bringing your enthusiasm, knowledge and incredible gift of communicating to Australia! It was wonderful to meet you and the lovely Christine here in Brisbane. As someone who only found your blog a month ago, I feel very priviledged to have attended. Go you!

      • LLVLCBlog

It was a magical time for us. So happy to be there with you in Brisbane. We can’t wait to come back.
