‘Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show’ Episode 178: JJ Virgin Shows You ‘The Art Of Losing It’

Dr. Phil’s nutrition expert and exercise physiologist JJ Virgin

My friend and fellow low-carb blogging buddy Dr. Jonny Bowden asked me recently if I have ever heard of a woman by the name of JJ Virgin. I told him I had not and so he introduced me to her stating she would make an excellent guest for my podcast show. After getting a copy of her book and doing my own research on this woman for myself, I enthusiastically contacted her about an interview. She gracefully agreed.

In Episode 178 of “The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore,” we hear from JJ Virgin who you may have seen on The Dr. Phil Show as a featured nutritionist for their weight loss programs. She has also worked with Hollywood stars to get them into shape for roles, including Brandon Routh for his blockbuster film “Superman Returns.” JJ has a new book entitled The Art Of Losing It and discusses the health and nutritional concepts that have made her clients successful in today’s show.

    Interesting interview…thanks Jimmy!
I noticed she poo-pooed Zero carb….claiming bad breath from ketosis…
so…when you met Charles….did he have bad ketosis breath?
….my wife has not complained that I have bad breath….
and I am at least near-zero….

all the best to you and Christine!

LOL! No, Charles’ breath wasn’t bad. And even Dr. Atkins writes that the “foul” breath from being in ketosis is actually a SWEET breath. So it’s not so bad after all. :)

Wow! Thank you for having JJ Virgin featured on your website. I remember years ago watching her help people with their nutrition on Dr. Phil. I always thought how nice it would be to get to hear more from her. Thank you so much!

Good interview but it appears once again we have ANOTHER health expert trotting out the myth that VLC wrecks the adrenals, producing high cortisol levels. I have been doing VLC carb for a while and low carb for years and I have low cortisol, not high cortisol.

I want to see actual EVIDENCE for this theory. I believed in it for a long time but now I do not!

THANKS Lynn! When JJ said that about a zero-carb diet, I thought about what Charles might say back to her. My job with these interviews is to hear what they have to say, let them say it, and let people make up their minds about what they believe. THANK YOU for listening and I appreciate your support.
