In Episode 43 of “Low-Carb Conversations With Jimmy Moore & Friends,” it’s time for yet another exciting excursion into health podcasting at its very best featuring our incredible friends Hawaii native Gina Ryan from the “Nourishing By Heart” blog and Australian Wayne Wilson from the “Go Primal” blog. My co-host Mindy Noxon Iannotti and I had an awesome time talking to Gina and Wayne about some of the hottest health headlines of the day with our guest friends, including why we seem to be eating less meat now than we used to, the pervasiveness of Wal-mart on our food supply, and the Hostess company who makes Twinkies filed for bankruptcy (Aw, what a shame!). Plus you won’t want to miss Gina’s Yummy Bars recipe that will hit the spot for your low-carb lifestyle. Let’s get this party started, shall we? Pull up a chair, grab a cup of coffee and let’s talk about it all in a conversation about these stories and more from the vantage point of the healthy low-carb lifestyle.

Listen to Gina Ryan & Wayne Wilson jibber-jabber about low-carb living:

  • Mindy went shopping for a nice dress for the Low-Carb Cruise
  • Gina had trouble with low blood sugar in the mid-70s
  • She started educating herself when she had gestational diabetes in early 80s
  • Back then they prescribed a low-carb diet for her gestational diabetes
  • She observed she felt the best she ever had during her pregnancies on low-carb
  • Sugar crept back into her diet, but she ate meat again and her health “soared”
  • Wayne’s awesome anti-vegan not801010 YouTube channel
  • He was on the 80/10/10 diet for a few months as an experiment
  • His opposition to Durianrider’s very high-carb, very low-fat, low-protein diet
  • He was always the “skinny guy” and found it hard to put on weight as a kid
  • He always thought he could get away with eating anything because of this
  • There were seemingly no health problems from consuming lots of sugar
  • In his 20’s he tried putting on muscle with the “conventional wisdom” diet
  • He noticed he felt tired and had poor skin problems with his low-fat diet
  • He always knew he needed to be eating meat as part of his diet
  • Wayne’s YouTube video response to Durianrider
  • “We’re Eating Less Meat. Why?”
  • This doesn’t jive with those of us in the low-carb/Paleo community
  • Mindy wonders if they even keep track of people eating grass-fed beef
  • The vegan message has so pervaded our society to be scared to death of meat
  • Farmer’s markets and local farms probably aren’t included in the statistics
  • Women especially are seriously scared of meat because of the “propaganda”
  • In Australia, meat has “gotten a bad rap” because of saturated fat
  • When you’re not eating grains, you need to consume calories from meat
  • The pervasiveness of “meatless recipes” at the big food stores in Australia
  • Why you can go a period of time between meals when you eat meat
  • “Eaters, beware: Walmart is taking over our food system”
  • Mindy buys heavy cream and other such low-carb staples at Wal-mart
  • Gina doesn’t shop at Wal-mart because she chooses to “boycott” them
  • Wayne doesn’t have a Wal-mart in Australia, but healthy food is expensive
  • You can get farmer’s foods in Australia cheaper than grocery stores
  • “Hostess, Maker Of Twinkies, Files For Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Protection”
  • The lack of acknowledgment of low-carb diets having an impact on this
  • Mindy says it’s impossible to think this company is really bankrupt
  • Many of the ingredients they use in their products are subsidized
  • Gina used to have Twinkies and a 7-UP, but she’d “keel over” now eating that
  • The teacher who has kept the same Twinkie for 30 years on her blackboard
  • Wayne had consumed Twinkies when he was a kid, but never again
  • Wayne’s very simple Romaine Lettuce Bacon Salad recipe
  • Gina’s low-carb Yummy Bars recipe
  • Gina never wants to live anywhere that her “coconut oil isn’t a liquid”

Oh, I’m not so sure your over generalizations apply buddy. 🙂

And not in the good way.

You cannot lose body fat without a calorie deficit. You must either eat less, exercise or do both. You MUST eat under your TDEE to lose fat. Fact. No argument is plausible. Controlling a macro nutrient will not help you lose weight unless you are in a calorie defecit
