I’ve just been on six planes in three days after an extraordinary weekend in Spokane, Washington at Ben Greenfield’s inaugural “Become Superhuman” LIVE event–and what a time it was! I got to meet so many amazing people after some challenging travel issues had me arriving at 1AM on Saturday morning being awake for 24 hours in a row (weather issues on the East coast delayed me in Chicago for 7 hours and Denver for 5 hours on the way there). But the flight delays and sleeplessness was worth it all to be a part of what I am sure will be an incredible annual go-to destination for people interested in optimizing their fitness and health. Special THANK YOU to Ben Greenfield for the opportunity to share a lecture about my nutritional ketosis n=1 experiment. My 10-month update will be coming a little later this week after I recover from all the traveling.
Now it’s time to get back to work on my book Cholesterol Clarity: What The HDL Is Wrong With My Numbers? The manuscript is due next month and there’s a lot of work left to be done. I’m working on putting it all together and we want it be done right. It’s a tricky balance to keep the tone on a level that is comprehensible to the average layperson while staying true to the science to appeal to the medical community. My co-author Dr. Eric Westman will help me make that happen. It’s exciting to go through all of this information and realize it’s going to change the lives of so many people. I spoke with a couple from Canada on one of my flights on Sunday about all of this and they were in agreement that something is wrong about the idea that cholesterol causes heart disease–that was quite encouraging that the tide seems to be turning. Maybe my book will help be the next wave in this continuing shift in thinking on this in our culture. I’m ready for that to happen! We’ve got some great podcasts for you to enjoy this week with the guest hosting on Monday, an LLVLC Classic episode on Wednesday and Low-Carb Conversations on Friday. ENJOY!
Guest hosts personal trainer Roger Dickerman from the “Relentless Roger” web site and ketogenic diet researcher/physician Dr. Colin Champ from the “Caveman Doctor” web site who are the hosts of the “Relentless Roger And The Caveman Doctor” podcast bring their own style of podcasting to Episode 662 of “The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show.” One of my favorite health podcasts over the past year has been “Relentless Roger And The Caveman Doctor.” Roger and Dr. Champ do a fantastic job with their unique podcasting format and you’ll get a sense for that in today’s special guest hosting episode. Enjoy this charismatic Paleo podcasting duo as they talk about the recent study of a Mediterranean-styled diet, the benefits of incorporating meditation in your lifestyle, offbeat exercises to change up your fitness routine, the importance of getting adequate iodine in your diet and so much more!
Clinical pharmacist, nutritionist and naturopathic physician Dr. James LaValle from the LaValle Metabolic Institute is our guest today in this LLVLC Classic interview in Episode 663 of “The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore.” Dr. LaValle was a relatively new name in the nutritional health community when I interviewed him back in 2008. But he had written an intriguing book that caught my attention called Cracking The Metabolic Code that included a ton of fantastic information that falls right in line with the low-carb principles I have been discussing early and often on my blog and podcdasts. Listen in to today’s LLVLC Show Classic episode as Dr. LaValle and I discuss statin drugs, why he chooses to use natural remedies, real food as the best medicine for optimal health and so much more. This is a fantastic rebroadcast of a fabulous interview! ENJOY!
