This really chaps me. I was online searching on Google for a website that lists physicians who prescribe a low carb diet. Now I am not surprised why I am having very little luck and keep getting websites that trash the low carb approach.

I guess I’d be better off with another search engine. Any ideas for ones that don’t “edit”?

Hey, if someone puts up a diet plan that works, it might destroy all those other diet product products that don’t work. The diet industry runs on things that don’t work. So his site does threaten their other advertisers.

Meanwhile, those “Lose 15 lbs of belly fat by following this one weird old tip” ads pop up on every other website I visit. How exactly is yet another diet and exercise book a “weird old tip”?

It’s a pretty big leap to assume that Google is censoring content.

On Dr. Carlson’s site, he mentioned that he sometimes responds to readers who have asked about products advertising there. (“Any one who clicked on an add [sic] could easily ask me what my thoughts were on a particular product or service; and you have.”) If Dr. Carlson clicked on one of the ads on his site to investigate the product, that would be a major violation of AdSense terms and conditions, albeit an innocent one.

Best that you, Jimmy, and Dr. Carlson get the facts before you make what appear to be rather paranoid assumptions about censorship.

Marg, I can appreciate where you’re coming from and understand about the whole personal clicks thing. Been there done that with Google. Unless it is egregious multiple clicks from the site owner, they don’t care if you click on them to take a look at the ads appearing on your site. But I wouldn’t say it is “paranoid” to assume anything about the business practices of Google. They’re well-known for pulling stunts like this just because they’re Google. I think my facts are as straight as an arrow. Thanks again for your comments!
