My low-carb blogging friend Laura Dolson from the About.com Low-Carb Diets page has this fantastic Low Carb Food Pyramid for people eating a carbohydrate-restricted diet so you can see what is most important to those things that are not as healthy for you. Pay attention to the bottom section featuring non-starchy vegetables, meats, and eggs that you should eat in abundance on your low-carb way of life compared with the upper section that features grains and starchy vegetables for the most part that are not supposed to be a regular part of your diet anymore:

There are some really fantastic low-carb successes and bloggers who have some amazing tips to offer low-carb newbies wanting to learn the ropes. Check out bestselling low-carb cookbook author Dana Carpender’s “Getting Started: Ten Tips For Success,” Karen Rysavy’s “Getting Started: Low Carb Newbie Tips,” celebrity low-carb chef George Stella’s “Stella Style: Getting Started,” PāNu blogger Dr. Kurt Harris’ “Getting Started,” Low Carb Luxury magazine founder Lora Ruffner’s “Low Carb For Beginners,” and BellaOnline.com Low-Carb Editor Lisa Shea’s “Low Carb Site” resources, just to name a few! There are many more, but these will get you going.

One of my fellow Atkins low-carb weight loss success stories is a man named Kent Altena who lost over 200 pounds thanks to this way of eating and writes regularly about it at his Atkins Diet Video Blog.
