Hey ho there my fellow low-carb mates! It’s the end of the week again and you know what that means–it’s “Fun-Filled Friday” time! Yee haw! You know what’s funny is I’ve lived in the South my whole life and I don’t think I’ve actually ever yelled out “Yee Haw!” That’s just another one of dem there stereotypes of those of us living in God’s country. Isn’t that right, Chrissy Sue, and my dog named Blue? Hee hee! I better get started with this week’s stuff to share now before I start a new stereotype.
Speaking of Southern boy, have you seen the Kung Fu Hillbilly?
That’s just messed up if you ask me. But not nearly as messed up as this 66-year old British woman getting pregnant through an IVF cycle. Life is just so unfair when a lady old enough to be my grandma can have a child at her age while Christine and I struggle to conceive even with IVF treatments. Speaking of messed up, I’m sure this cute video of the dinosaurs and a pig will make you smile:
EWWWWW! But I bet you’re laughing now, aren’t you? If you think THAT was funny, though, get a load of how an old lady crossing the street teaches an impatient hot shot in a sports car a lesson in humility. This one’s a classic!
Go get ‘em grandma!!! Ahhhhhh, doesn’t life seem to be back in balance again after watching that? YES! Let’s keep the smiles rolling with this cute interpretation of the famous Lion King song “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” featuring Happy Hippo & Stan The Dog:
Switching gears to a real singer, how about that ending to the season of American Idol this year with Kris Allen being crowned the surprise winner? It wasn’t a big shock to me that Kris won considering the Danny Gokey voters seemed to vote for him in mass, but Adam Lambert was clearly the far superior singer and performer in the competition this year. I don’t feel bad for Adam at all because he’s gonna have an AMAZING career ahead of him in the music industry. I found this old video of Adam at his 2000 high school graduation ceremony singing the Boyz II Men ballad “It’s So Hard To Say Goodbye To Yesterday.”
The man’s got some chops and he’s going to move on to bigger and better things in his life henceforth. You know, they say there’s nothing new under the sun and this revival of the 1980s cult television show “V” proves it all over again:
A bunch of seemingly docile aliens offering hope and change while secretly out to destroy mankind. I loved the original series and this one looks promising. I believe it’s coming out in the Fall lineup on ABC. On the subject of hope and change, did you hear about what happened yesterday when a group of over 100 kindergartners from Virginia went to see the White House and have a chance to meet President Obama? It seems they were a few minutes late and the staff turned them away because the president had to be with the Pittsburgh Steelers who won the Super Bowl this year. Here’s a news story on it:
I don’t see what the big deal would have been to let the kids tour through the White House and have President Obama make a quick cameo appearance, but officials from the administration say they are going to try to reschedule the event for the tots. It would be really cool if he went to their school in the next week or two as a de facto apology for the mix-up. I doubt that will happen before the end of the school year, but it would be a nice gesture.
Did you hear about what the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is doing uniquely to bloggers who write reviews that is not happening in other forms of media like magazines and radio stations? They’re trying to mandate regulation and full disclosure to avoid tainted reviews of products. I get review copies of new books and products all the time, but that doesn’t mean I’m obligated to write a glowing review about them. If I hate a book or product, then I’m sharing that concern on my blog. However, if I find a product that I particularly like and enjoy, then I’m happy to share that with my readers as well and sometimes even enter into a sponsorship relationship with the maker of that product to spread the word even more. There’s absolutely nothing at all wrong with this because I have personally vetted all the companies for myself. The FTC needs to mind their own business in this matter and leave the bloggers alone.
Okay, I got that off my chest now, let’s end on a happy note. Did you see the nurturing cat who was grooming the chihuahua dog when suddenly…
DON’T LICK ME THERE! (I would have embedded this, but the widescreen videos on YouTube mess with the format of my blog–UGH!)
OMG, that is so funny! The cat’s licking that dog all over the place and then bingo bango he just goes ballistic! And the look on the face of the cat at the end like, “What the heck did I do?” is priceless!
That’s a full plate of “Fun-Filled Friday” stuff for you today! Have a great Memorial Day weekend and send me your fun stuff anytime at livinlowcarbman@charter.net.
