It may take a little more prep time but it is so much better than eating manufactured food that comes from a factory.

I really like the Michael Pollan clip. But in your video above he says "calories are irrelevant." To me, that's an example of someone shedding new light on a problem, and then thinking that the new light is the whole story.

I was definitely convinced in Taubes’s book that calories aren’t the whole story, because carbs drive insulin drives appetite. But it would be fun to see them debate what they don't agree on, namely Pollan's advice to "eat mostly plants" vs. Taubes's view that eating lots of meat is good for you. There are so many studies that show that meat is and isn't bad for you, we might be kidding ourselves to think we know the answer on that one. Pollan quotes Campbell on the China Study, but Taubes points out that the lead researcher on the study said Campbell twisted the results and the study simply showed that when people moved to the cities they got sicker. People point to the Seventh Day Adventist study that showed the vegetarian Adventists far outlived the meat. It would be fun to hear them discuss it, and they seem like people who could discuss it without insulting each other.

I’m a fan of both Taubes and Pollan, and it seems that they agree about refined food being bad for our health. In Australia we don't have ads encouraging the wearing of seat belts; we have penalties for not wearing them. Have a look: www.rta.nsw.gov.au/rulesregulations/penalties/seatbelts.html

Hi Jimmy,<br
