Never have we put salmon genes into the genetic material of a plant, never have we put human genes into the genetic material of a pig. GMO development is different IN KIND than anything the planet has ever seen.
For a great explanation of why and how this is so, see Michael Pollan's section on it in The Botany of Desire. (My favorite Pollan book!)

GMOs are not the same as crossbreeding different types of plants as humans have been doing for thousands of years. I do wonder where the bees went. Do keep in mind that Einstein was not right about everything, for one, he was a terrible viola player, but for another the bees have been in trouble for a while and we don't seem to be at risk for extinction.
That said, its worth investigating. The foods which seem to cause me the most trouble are ones that carry antibiotics such as dairy products or meat that is not grass fed and grains/legumes like soy, corn and wheat. I did not know that the flavor savor tomato had fish genetic code, that does concern me, my mother is deathly allergic to all things from the ocean, including sea vegetables, fish, shell fish, and even sea salt causes anaphelactic (spl?) responses.

Great line up, very entertaining. Of course the GMO stuff is way over the top. People freak the minute you mention genetics because they don't really understand what it means. They make it sound like a bunch of mad scientists are trying to take over the world when they're simply trying to make things better and make crops that are more pest and drought-resistant in order to grow better in those areas of the world where drought and other issues are a big problem. A lot of those people are starving and hardier crops would help them. It's not that much different than crossbreeding different varieties of plants to produce better ones. Sure, there should be plenty of testing and regulation, and yes, there could be unintended consequences, but videos like that are simply alarmist, taking unrelated "facts" and coming up with wild speculations packaged as "truth". This reminds me of those rabid vegan types who blame all manner of ills on meat-eating.
Okay, soapbox rant over :-) As a scientist/engineer, I get cranky when people insinuate that those in my field are a bunch of soulless monsters. Most of us really do want to make the world a better place.
Meanwhile, I'm down 5 lbs. on my low-carb diet. Only 45 more to go!
<i>Keep it up, Tula!

Was wondering whether you'd seen or heard anything about homeopathic HCG. I know someone who had weight loss surgery and still did not lose weight but has lost 50 lbs with homeopthic HCG. In fact, I know a whole host of people, myself included who have lost significant weight using it. It also has the effect of reshaping the body which is what I was most interested in because it's the only way I have been able to get rid of the very large saddlebags I've had all my life!
<i>THANKS Celia! I won't be interviewing Carnie Wilson necessarily, but rather taking part in a conference call to ask her a question about her current quest to lose weight again. Hope to land an interview for the podcast. As for homeopathic HCG, listen to my upcoming interview with Dr. Kendra Pearsall from ENLITA coming February 11, 2010.
