Whew, what a week this has been! You may have noticed something rather strange happened with “Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb” this week: there were NO podcast shows! Yep, we had two scheduled this week as always with Rachit Dayal on Monday and Leigh Peele yesterday, but neither of them aired. There’s a perfectly good explanation for that–my podcast producer Kevin Kennedy-Spaien had to have emergency surgery on his retina and couldn’t be on a computer for a week. That happened last Friday and he’ll be getting these interviews up over the weekend. I’ll post them here at my blog when they are ready.
I did have one interview to share with you this week that featured me on the FOXOLOGY radio show with my friend Silver Rae Fox. She interviewed me in Milwaukee, Wisconsin back in January 2006 when I was in town there for a book signing about my first book Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb: My Journey From Flabby Fat To Sensationally Skinny In One Year. The experience was so enjoyable that when she invited me to come on her show again I jumped at the chance to discuss my story and my upcoming new book 21 Life Lessons From Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb. Silver Rae had me on for two segments you can listen to here and here. That was so much fun!
Speaking of fun, this is “Fun-Filled Friday” and that means it’s time for me to share some other stuff that interests me whether they’re related to low-carb, diet, health and fitness or not. You may not always agree with me, but hopefully you’ll be led to think about what you believe, get inspired, and even get in a laugh or two. That’s what these posts are all about. Ready or not, here we go!
Did you watch Neil Patrick Harris on The Emmy’s last weekend? As the lovable character Barney on CBS’ “How I Met Your Mother” (but I’ll always remember him as “Doogie Howser, MD”), he is one of the most talented television comedy actors out there. This little opening number to the popular TV awards show proves why.
As Barney would say, “Awesome!” It’s almost as good as 6-year old Bryan “Bumble Bee” Ross showing off his boxing prowess at such a young age. This kid is amazing!
That’s one bad mamma jamma! Could we be seeing the next Iron Mike Tyson? We shall see in a decade or two. One person I hope we don’t see much of for very much longer is a mayor just a few miles down the road from Spartanburg where I live in Wellford, South Carolina. Her name is Sallie Peake and she recently implemented a “no chase policy” for police officers in her town. The local CBS affiliate WSPA-TV sent out a reporter named Chris Cato to speak with Mayor Peake about this policy and a circus ensued. Here’s the story that ended up on the news and made national headlines:
Here’s the raw footage of the entire 7-minute interview:
“May God bless you, may God bless you, may God bless you, may God bless you, may God bless you.” LOL! What a piece of work this woman is! Kudos to that patient reporter putting up with that idiocy. It’s hard to believe someone with that kind of incompetence is elected into positions of power. How shameful and I can tell you she is not indicative of the citizens of South Carolina.
And what about these songs sung by elementary school students in New Jersey honoring and praising President Barack Hussein Obama? Do you think there were ever songs like these sung about George W. Bush, Ronald Reagan, or Bill Clinton?
Here are the lyrics to the two songs that the kids sang earlier this year:
SONG 1
Mm, mmm, mm!
Barack Hussein Obama
He said that all must lend a hand
To make this country strong again
Mmm, mmm, mm!
Barack Hussein Obama
He said we must be fair today
Equal work means equal pay
Mmm, mmm, mm!
Barack Hussein Obama
He said that we must take a stand
To make sure everyone gets a chance
Mmm, mmm, mm!
Barack Hussein Obama
He said red, yellow, black or white
All are equal in his sight
Mmm, mmm, mm!
Barack Hussein Obama
Yes!
Mmm, mmm, mm
Barack Hussein Obama
SONG 2
Hello, Mr. President we honor you today!
For all your great accomplishments, we all doth say “hooray!”
Hooray, Mr. President! You’re number one!
The first black American to lead this great nation!
Hooray, Mr. President we honor your great plans
To make this country’s economy number one again!
Hooray Mr. President, we’re really proud of you!
And we stand for all Americans under the great Red, White, and Blue!
So continue —- Mr. President we know you’ll do the trick
So here’s a hearty hip-hooray —-
Hip, hip hooray!
Hip, hip hooray!
Hip, hip hooray!
I’m all for supporting a President of the United States, but this seems to be a little too much adoration if you ask me. What do you think?
Look at this propaganda about saturated fat being shared by the Food Standards Agency (equivalent to the FDA in America) that is DEAD WRONG.
Do they really think we’re all this stupid? Apparently so, but I doubt many thinking people are believing this load of you know what anymore. Nice try, though!
A friend of mine I play volleyball with each week is an aspiring actor/producer and created a pretty nifty original commercial for a contest promoting Post-It Notes. This “Silent But Deadly” spot turned out pretty cool I think!
And finally, for a spectacular ending to “Fun-Filled Friday” today, I have a video showing off the second largest aquarium tank in the world (only the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta is bigger!) located in Okinawa, Japan which holds nearly 2 million gallons of water with lots of whales, sharks, manta rays, and more floating around in it. What an inspiring sight to behold and be mesmerized by!
That’s it for this week! I’ll be finishing up the rest of my book reviews over the weekend, so keep checking the post below for more info being added. We’ll also get those podcast interviews up for you this weekend sometime as well and Christine and I have been wanting to get back behind the camera for some YouTube videos, too. Have an amazing low-carb weekend and THANK YOU for reading! As always, drop me an e-mail at livinlowcarbman@charter.net anytime! SEE YA SOON!
