It’s the most wonderful day of the week…that’s right, it’s Friday again and time to crank up the fun-o-meter for my weekly “Fun-Filled Friday” post. I’m always excited to get to this part of the week because it means the weekend is upon us and I get to enjoy myself sharing some of the neato mosquito stuff I’ve found and want to share with you over the past week. And boy do we have some doozies for you today! ENJOY!
Unless you’ve been living under a rock and not paying attention to pop culture at all this week, then no doubt by now you’ve heard about the whole Kanye West/Taylor Swift/Beyonce moments on MTV’s Video Music Awards show earlier this week. Here’s a quick recap news story to catch you up to speed in case you missed it:
So, Taylor wins an award as a country music artist on a show that has never recognized artists like her and Kanye decides to come out and show his true colors for all the world to see. You know, when I first saw it happening, I thought it was an obvious setup. But in the aftermath of it all seeing Taylor discuss the “incident,” I believe it was very real and Beyonce just showed real class giving Taylor a chance to finish her acceptance speech for winning her first VMA award.
The next night, Kanye West was scheduled to appear on the debut of The Jay Leno Show and decided to share his remorse and contrition for what he did.
So, did you catch what President Obama had to say about Kanye’s actions?
Yep, he sure was! But I’m all about second chances and if Kanye is sincere about feeling bad about what he did then he should take some time off as he stated he wants to do, encourage people to go buy Taylor Swift’s albums and go to her concerts, and then remember not to do something this idiotic again. Lesson learned? We’ll see.
Speaking of lessons, what were these kids on a school bus in Belleville, Illinois thinking on this bus letting this kid get his head bashed in by somebody who apparently didn’t like him too much. I understand fights happen and they have been for years. But this seems so severe. And where the heck was the bus driver in all this? I remember my middle school bus driver would slam on the brakes to make us behave and she had no trouble stopping the bus to deal with situations. Here’s an interview with a kid who broke up the fight on CBS’ “The Early Show”:
Sad, sad story! Things like this shouldn’t happen, but is it a sign of the degradation of society or just an isolated event? I dunno. But not all is lost in this world as evidenced by this story about a man named Steve Monforto and his three-year-old little girl Emily who were at a Philadelphia Phillies baseball game where Steve caught a foul ball. After giving high-fives to some fellow fans nearby, Steve bends over and gives the ball to Emily who immediately threw the ball back. INSTANT CLASSIC!
Here’s little Emily being interviewed about this experience by a patient reporter:
Cute cute cute! Have you ever watched some of these cable television news people and wondered just how smart they REALLY are? Well, this week Jeopardy had a special Celebrity Tournament featuring CNN’s “Situation Room” host Wolf Blitzer and he didn’t do so well ending up in negative territory after Double Jeopardy.
It just goes to show you being on TV news does not necessarily make you very smart! Hey, at least Alex Trebek let him play in Final Jeopardy. And FINALLY today I have this really AWESOME video sharing about The Gratitude Campaign designed to show our military personnel how much we love and thank them for their service to this country. It can be awkward saying something, but EVERYONE can do this simple little gesture.
That’s it for this week, but we’ll be back with even more “Fun-Filled Friday” next week. Enjoy your weekend soaking in all the wonderful activities that are in store for you and whatever you do, keep on livin’ la vida low-carb! SEE YA SOON!
