Is it Friday yet? You bet it is and that means it’s time for “Fun-Filled Friday” again here at “The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb” blog. WOO HOO! My favorite day of the week lets me feature some stuff that’s not necessarily about diet, nutrition, and health. In case you’re wondering, I haven’t forgotten about posting about the 2010 Low-Carb Cruise last week…just been swamped with catching up this week. I’ll share my thoughts and recollections about the cruise tomorrow. However, I do have a couple of videos from the cruise to share with you that are entirely appropriate for FFF.
Everybody knows my friend Tom Naughton for the fantastic work he did on the documentary film FAT HEAD, but did you know he could sing bass? No, not the fish, but as in really, really low. I decided to put that to the test when I teamed up with him during karaoke to sing the classic Oak Ridge Boys hit song “Elvira.” We did this song three times during the week and Tom is like the best “oom papa mow mow” guy ever! SEE FOR YOURSELF:
LOL! You go boy! Christine and I LOVE singing together (she’s an alto, I’m a tenor/baritone) when we have a strong soprano singer to join us and we found just that in our low-carb cruise coordinator Becky Gandy. The three of us decided to be in the Talent Show on the Carnival Fascination and sing a medley of church songs we thought people would know — all in a cappella! The only other option would have been to choose a song out of “the book” that the band would know, so we decided to give it a go. THANKS to Amy Dungan, we got the video to show you how it went:
That was so much fun! For our efforts, we got a three-inch tall plastic “boat” trophy and a bottle of champagne. Since Christine and I don’t drink, our fellow low-carb cruisers were the benefactors of a swig each from The Moore’s up on the Lido deck that night. Oh the memories…maybe you can join us in 2011 to make some memories with us. Details about the next one coming up soon and we’ve already got some BIG NAMES signed up as guest speakers…STAY TUNED!
Okay, what else can we talk about here today? Some of the best and most unusual “talent” we’ve seen over the past few years has been coming out of the UK on “Britain’s Got Talent” program and if you haven’t seen Stavros Flatley, then you’re in for a real treat…er, I think. Watch this rendition of “Lord Of The Dance” and see if you can figure out why even Simon Cowell gave them a standing ovation and called them “utter genius”:
Note how out of breath they both were afterwards. As “big guys” dancing around on stage like that, I think somebody should have had oxygen ready for them. Not sure what I think about how much “talent” that took, but it’s definitely different. Speaking of odd, have you seen what Alan Watson is doing to promote his book Cereal Killer on YouTube. “The Poynt Blanc Show” is pretty darn creative and funny:
Alan will be joining us on the 2010 Low-Carb Cruise…what fun that will be! You know who else would be fun to see in person? Have you seen Toronto personal trainer Omar Isuf, aka Chef Buff, yet? This guy is so entertaining to watch and his mashed cauliflower recipe is pretty amazing, too! ENJOY!
“Albino broccoli!” HA! That’s great! What a riot. You go boy! Shifting gears a bit, have you ever heard of Bucky Balls? Yeah, up until a couple of week ago, neither had I. But after watching this video I may have to try them for myself:
Is this the Rubix Cube of the 21st Century or what? Something I definitely DON’T want is to ever eat white bread again (AS IF!) after seeing this:

EWWWWW! Sorry, just had to show that one! I’ve been having some mouse trouble with my printer lately anyway:

HA! Poor little fella. That’s what you call being between a rock and hard place. And finally today one of my most ardent supporters got inspired by my trademark name to create a Jimmyfied album cover for me:

I LOVE IT! Well that’s it for this edition of “Fun-Filled Friday.” As always, send me your appropriate FFF stuff anytime at livinlowcarbman@charter.net. I look forward to blogging about the low-carb cruise on Saturday, so don’t miss that post! SEE YA!
