Indeed this is finally some useful and targeted nutritional research. My only "fear" here is that Big Pharma comes up with some kind of "magic pill" that (supposedly) blocks the effect of Stearoyl-Coenzyme A desaturase 1 and "therefore permits" people to keep eating a high-carb diet.

And "all is well again" in mainstream cloud-cuckoo land. NOT... it's also important, IMHO, that researchers keep pointing out and proving the many other unhealthy aspects of dietary patterns high in carbs. Although we may one day be able to suppress SCD-1 through medication or other techniques, we must not forget that a high-carb diet still is not a healthy way to eat.

Great study, and great post, Jimmy! Did you actually converse with Dr. Ntambi?

Jimmy,<br

For some people, a lo-carb diet is what they NEED. For others, lo-carb is not important. Once we can accept each other's differences, we'll all be better off.

I think this highlights a very important point about weight loss – that we all are different. Loved the blog. Was pondering the fact that in my 12 step program, the recovering alcoholics all have weight problems, while the recovering addicts mostly do not. Maybe it all does come down to the liver, since drinking is well known to damage the liver, and there is some evidence to show that liver function can play a difference between being a normal drinker and an alcoholic.

Another question is if there is any supplement you can take to help your liver in addition to livin la vida low carb?

61 pounds since July, by the way, and no thoughts whatsoever about eating differently.

Hi from Clyde in OKC.
