If they find our that their "idol" is a candy addict, it will give them an idea that it's okay to eat more than they should. Their oral health will be at risk.

I agree that he should be a role model to everyone, especially the kids out there looking up to him. The only difference was I bought mine constantly throughout the week. so it didn't seem so outrageous..
I remember eating candy everyday all day at work, while I watched tv, I sucked on hard candy in class, had cookies for dessert after every meal, it was a non stop sugarfest. I craved it and had to have it, it wasn't until I started low carbing that I began to understand that sugar did more to the body than make you fat. So I think part of Mr Odems problem is he needs to be educated on the effects of sugar on the body.
Is his candy addiction good? No but I think it's unfair to expect him to be a role model to kids, if he isn't aware of the dangers himself.
<i>I agree he needs to be educated on sugar, but he's still a role model for the kids who watch him. Ignorance does not let you off the hook for your responsibility if you are someone in his position.

It's a type of bingeing, and he's rationalizing it, which is a form of denial. I speak from personal experience.

Just wanted to thank you for replying to my question about my husband's increased cholesterol count yesterday.
After reading your reply we phoned our Dr again and managed to get the LDL and HDL figures separately. We've looked at some charts now and it looks like his counts are fine. We also managed to order some home testing kits.
I was feeling quite down when i wrote to you, as it seemed all the hard work had been for nothing. Thank you so much for taking the time to answer a question that you've probably answered a hundred times before.
Jackie
<i>It's my pleasure to do whatever I can to help others work through their own low-carb journey to better health. :) Happy to do it anytime!

It's a regular case of the pot and kettle. You continue to crack me up.
Just out of curiousity, have you ever had your IQ tested?
<i>Pooti, there's a monumental difference between someone who consumes gobs and gobs of sugar and HFCS like Odom does and someone like me who hasn't had sugar in about 5 1/2 years. Eating and drinking things that are "sweet" to the taste that are sugar-free is not even close to being the same thing as constantly eating candy, cookies, and all that garbage food that Odom was shown eating in that story.
What exactly is your problem, my friend? Why is there such arrogance and animosity from you over what I decide to put in my mouth? And what in the world does my intelligence have to do with this conversation? I'm not sure what's going on in the world of Pooti right now, but it sounds like you've got some issues that need to be dealt with. Wishing you well in all your future pursuits.
