Former vegetarian and cholesterol health expert Chris Masterjohn
In a society hellbent on convincing us that cholesterol is one of the greatest enemies to health mankind has ever seen, extolling the virtues of consuming saturated fat and cholesterol will have people looking at you like you’re some kind of space alien. They’ll say to you, “How in the world can you believe that consuming cholesterol is somehow healthy and why wouldn’t you want to lower your total cholesterol to protect yourself against a heart attack and improve cardiovascular health?” This sounds like a good question, but with a closer look at this issue you’ll find there’s more to this story than most people have heard about. One of the up-and-coming leaders on the front lines of this debate is my podcast interview guest today.
In Episode 314 of “The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore,” we hear from University of Connecticut Department of Nutritional Sciences doctoral student Chris Masterjohn, a young man who has taken the journey from being a former vegetarian into one of the rising stars of busting the cholesterol myths! His phenomenal web site Cholesterol-And-Health.com is one of the most comprehensive resources for combatting the anti-cholesterol nonsense that is being so heavily promoted by the so-called health experts. Watch this 150-second clip of Chris Masterjohn explaining what he knows is true about cholesterol:
Listen to him discuss why he is such a champion for cholesterol, the positive impact of The Weston A. Price Foundation on his thinking, the history behind how cholesterol became the villain, the difference between the diet/heart hypothesis and the lipid hypothesis, the oxidative stress connection to heart health, the media distortion of the cholesterol myth, the special interests involved in perpetuating cholesterol dangers, the folly of the American Heart Association’s “heart-healthy” logo, share about what we can do to combat the opponents of cholesterol, his passion for supporting the local food economy, and so much more! This interview is not for the faint of heart or mind, but you’ll learn more about cholesterol and health in this one-hour interview than you would pursuing a medical degree.
