Dr. Bruce Fife is the leading authority on coconut health benefits

There’s a lot mystery and confusion surrounding the subject of coconut and coconut oil in the health industry because of the high-fat content. Sadly, this has inadvertently pushed people away from eating these deliciously healthy tropical whole food products that are an outstanding supplement to your low-carb lifestyle change. In fact, it’s the fat in coconut products that your body NEEDS to fuel up and receive numerous health benefits. Today’s podcast interview guest has done the research on all things related to coconut and is here to talk about the information he has gathered and written about extensively in a series of books.

In Episode 305 of “The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore,” we hear from Dr. Bruce Fife from The Coconut Research Center who has written an outstanding book all about coconut and health called Coconut Cures: Preventing and Treating Common Health Problems with Coconut. If you’ve ever been curious about why you should add coconut to your diet, then you absolutely need to listen to my interview with Dr. Fife! Hear him discuss why he decided to embrace coconut oil, how the fat in coconut oil is actually LESS than 9 calories per gram, the extensive research that has been conducted on coconut and coconut oil for optimal health, where coconut milk comes from, what coconut water is and how it’s different from coconut milk, what the melting point of coconut oil is, how to properly use coconut flour in baking, and how coconut water can be used medicinally as a sterile IV solution. This is a truly incredible podcast that you’ll want to share with anyone who is skittish about eating coconut!

Coming up next on Monday, we’ll hear from Chinese cooking cultural expert Lorraine Clissold who wrote a book entitled Why the Chinese Don’t Count Calories: 15 Secrets from a 3,000-Year-Old Food Culture. Although this book does not necessarily match up with the basic principles of low-carb living, I think the historical perspective she offers is well worth a listen. Then on Thursday, I’m honored to have a famous Aussie weight loss expert that many of you have asked me to interviewed named Jon Gabriel. This guy is certainly enthusiastic about what he believes and you can tell why he has a following. That’s all coming up this next week on “The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore.”

  • Great show Jimmy. I love coconut!

I’d heard of a few of those books. No idea they were all written by the same guy.

    THANKS Grok! He’s quite prolific.

  • Update:
I overindulged in the coconut products tonight. I partly blame podcast #305. Ha-ha

LOL! Beats overindulging in other things. :D

I would like to ask a question please. I DO like the taste of coconut but not in my vegetables or meat dishes. So can I use the ‘neutral’ kind of coconut oil that some companies such as Jarrow are selling (in fact I am using one of those right now).

A few years ago I bought a whole gallon of the good stuff but eventually had to discard half because I just couldn’t take it anymore.

What healthy nutrients, if any, are missing in the ‘deodorized’ version?

Thanks Jimmy! I enjoyed the podcast, as always. Getting ready to donate something, which you greatly deserve!

Rosemarie, THANKS so much for your support! The only downside to the ones that don’t have a scent is the lack of flavor. But that’s what you are wanting with your veggies and meat, so it’s perfect. Lemme know what you think! Thank you again!

    –Jimmy
