‘Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show’ Episode 257: South African Shed 170 Pounds On Low-Carb In Seven Months

PODCAST CHANGES UPDATE: As you know, we are working to move all the old archived podcast episodes over to our brand new web site TheLivinLowCarbShow.com/ShowNotes and the process is going to take a few weeks to complete. In the meantime, the new episodes will likely not show up in iTunes for a while so be sure to visit the newly-updated podcast site on Mondays and Thursdays to access the latest interviews. THANKS again for your patience as we go through this frustrating process.

Deon van der Merwe went through an amazing low-carb transformation

There sure are a bunch of losers in this world–low-carb losers that is! Livin’ la vida low-carb is a global phenomenon and there are quite literally tens of millions of people who are implementing carbohydrate-restriction into their life. Bucking the trend of traditional medical wisdom, people are finally taking back control of their own weight and health by educating themselves and doing it for themselves–support or no support from their doctor or dietitian. One great example of this is a man from the country of South Africa who accomplished triple-digit weight loss on a low-carb lifestyle.

In Episode 257 of “The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore,” we hear from Deon van der Merwe who was able to shed 170 pounds in a period of seven months following a strict low-carb eating plan last year. Today he is motivated to help other South Africans improve their weight and health with an exciting support group called Low-Carb Diet Club as well as a Low-Carb Challenge and his unique Diet-In-A-Box concept. Hear Deon share his incredible low-carb weight loss success story, what his keys to success were, how Gary Taubes was such an instrumental part of his low-carb lifestyle change, and what life is like for him today weighing 170 pounds lighter thanks to livin’ la vida low-carb. Be encouraged and inspired in your own low-carb journey by listening to Deon speak so passionately about his low-carb way of life.

  • I’m not watching the second Christian-related video at the moment because my daughter’s sitting next to me and I don’t know all the content, but if this is the case I’m thinking of, those Christians were walking through a majority-LGBT neighborhood making a great show of piety. Considering all the harassment and condemnation of LGBT folks that occurs at the hands of so-called Christians, I’m sure you might have an inkling of an idea as to why they would object to what amounts to neighborhood harassment. It’d be like the Klan marching through a majority-black neighborhood. And before you condemn me for hyperbole, may I remind you that it states in the Bible that gay people are to be executed. (More accurately, gay people who have gay sex. But still. By stoning, I might add, and the same people who follow that book as scripture then condemn conservative Muslim nations for actually carrying out that dictate. Odd.)

I understand you’re a Christian and passionate about your faith, I really do. But I have zero respect for anyone incapable of putting themselves into the shoes of a person different from themselves, of showing a little empathy for others. I hope you are not one of those people, Jimmy.

Because you’re absolutely right–we have the right to religious FREEDOM in this country, Jimmy, including the right to choose a faith different than that of people who openly violate Christ’s teaching to go into their closets and pray rather than stand on the street corner being vain. Do I need to go find the book, chapter, and verse on that one or do you already know what I’m talking about?

This world would be a lot better place to live if people learned the difference between God’s commandments and human failings, and lived accordingly.

THANKS Dana! But this Bible study meeting in San Diego had nothing to do with gay people at all, so I hope you click on the link. It’s not a video, but a news story, so I sincerely hope you check it out. They were being told they couldn’t meet together to pray, praise God and do all the things that are protected by the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution and that’s wrong. Again, this has nothing to do with discrimination against homosexuals which is obviously wrong. Yes, the sin of homosexuality is wrong, but the people who are engaged in it are worthy of the same love and compassion that Jesus Christ Himself gave to us when He died on the cross. That’s what God intends people who call on Him to do and I try to live my life according to that. Again, I appreciate you sharing your perspective.

    –Jimmy

  • And I am a big idiot because I commented the above to the wrong post. But you know what I’m talking about. Now I’m gonna go feel stupid for a while. :(

Nah! You were just anxious to get your message out there. THANKS Dana!

    –Jimmy
