Denny’s will give the ultimate bailout to America during Tuesday’s promotion
Were you one of the tens of millions who tuned in last night to watch the Pittsburgh Steelers squeeze by the Arizona Cardinals in a nail-biter Super Bowl XLIII by a score of 27-23? It was an exciting game for fans of professional football regardless of who you were rooting for, but one of the best parts of the “game” a lot of people watch the Super Bowl for was a really cool FREE offer coming up tomorrow morning.
A good portion of the people who watch the Super Bowl each year couldn’t care less about NFL football…they just wanna see the new television ads that have become as much a hallmark of the “big game” each year as the pigskin match-up. It’s the “game-within-the-game” that attracts record-breaking viewers annually. But this year’s crop of television ads was severely lacking in imagination and creativity for the most part–until Denny’s got in on the action.
With the recession hitting many American households hard this year, the 24-hour breakfast food icon decided it was time to offer their own “bailout” to the hardworking people who are the backbone of the United States economy. That’s why they announced during their 3rd quarter ad produced by the marketing firm Goodby, Silverstein & Partners to give away their signature Grand Slam breakfast (2 eggs, 2 bacon, 2 sausage, and 2 pancakes) on Tuesday, February 3, 2009 from 6:00am to 2:00pm absolutely FREE. Check out the Super Bowl ad for yourself:
This very generous offer is only good for dine-in customers and I suspect the Denny’s restaurants all across America will be hopping most of the day with people eager to take advantage of a genuinely FREE meal. You can find the Denny’s closest to you by visiting their convenient Restaurant Locator. I would suspect the busiest times will be right before rush hour at 7:00-8:00am and then again at lunch from 12:00-1:00pm. My wife Christine and I are gonna try to go during the “off” time to get our FREE Grand Slam.
Other than the pancakes, this really is a FANTASTIC meal for people who are livin’ la vida low-carb, so you should take full advantage of this tomorrow. And I’ve substituted for the pancakes in the past with something a little less carb-loaded such as tomato slices or cheese, so ask your server to replace your pancakes for one of these better options. And, by all means, be sure to tip your server generously because this is one of the most thankless jobs in America by people who rely on their tips to pay them their salary. Reward them during this special promotion to get their 2009 started off with a bang.
So, go out and get your FREE Grand Slam from Denny’s on Tuesday, February 3, 2009 from 6:00am to 2:00pm–and ENJOY!
By the way, a little trivia question for you about this ad: Can you name the famous actor who is the voiceover announcer at the end of the ad? He was pretty big back in the 1970s and 1980s on the silver screen. Share your guesses in the comments section below.

I think it’s Burt Reynolds. Great commmercial, but I won’t be eating at Denny’s today.
Yep, it’s Burt Reynolds! The promotion is tomorrow, though. Can’t beat the price.
I saw the Denny’s ad on the internet today… and called our local Denny’s. They said this was their first time to have such a promo, and I was about the 500th caller today!!
Hmmm…. I appreciate a free breakfast, but think I will go somewhere less crowded!
Oh, I’m sure they’ll be slammed (no pun intended!) with customers tomorrow. They used to give a free meal on your birthday a long time ago, but ceased doing that in the late 1990s. If you can get in the door, it’s worth a free meal.

Hi Jimmy! I took my kids today. We live in Indiana and we went in the middle of a snow storm. We waited for 45 minutes and then we were seated. I asked if they could substitue something for the eggs and pancakes…i’m allergic to eggs, and she told me they would not do substitutions. So I just ate the sausage, and bacon and gave the eggs and pacakes to my kids. Still a GREAT deal! Thanks DENNYS!!!!

We went! Got there are 10 till 6am and waited about 30 minutes to get a seat but we did get our free Grand Slam and the bottomless mug of coffee. It was packed with teens taking advantage of having Denny’s near their high school and they were so much fun to watch.
Great deal! Great breakfast! It even earned me brownie points with the co-worker who got my pancakes.
Oh, and we left an extra large tip since we were concerned that the h.s. kids might now be.
You can’t beat the price? Oh yes you can. Wait in line for an hour to eat very low quality food in an ugly restaurant when I can sit comfortably at home and make awesome bacon and eggs, in greater quantity, for less than the tip you left? Uhm yeah.
