Time Running Out To Join Us On The 2nd Annual Low-Carb Cruise To Mexico

We’ll be setting sail for Mexico in less than 100 days…won’t you join us?

I’m getting very excited about the date on my calendar January 19, 2008 and it will be here before you know it. That’s the day a group of enthusiastic low-carbers will be gathering together and setting sail on board the Carnival Ecstasy cruise ship for a 5-day adventure down to Cozumel and Progreso, Mexico leaving out of Galveston, TX port. The 2008 cruise earlier this year was such a blast that we couldn’t wait to do it again for The 2nd Annual Low-Carb Cruise To Mexico. And we’ve got some breaking news to share with you about the cost of the cruise for those of you who are still interested in going but haven’t signed up yet.

First, I wanted to remind you of the special guests we will have on board with us for this cruise:

DR. ERIC WESTMAN
Generally recognized by his scholastic peers as one of the premier researchers on low-carb diets, Dr. Eric Westman from Duke University is a young man forging new ground in the research world by allowing the evidence for the low-carbohydrate nutritional approach speak for itself in his study participants and in the patients he sees each week in his clinic. Unlike many in the research community, Dr. Westman makes the complex issues much more understandable to the layman and he delivers that message in his trademark soft-spoken delivery style that will cause you to lean in and listen to every word he speaks. We are truly privileged to have him join us and share what he has learned over the years studying the healthy low-carb lifestyle.

JACKIE EBERSTEIN
Who better to come with us on a low-carb cruise than someone who worked directly with the late, great Dr. Robert C. Atkins for three decades helping patient after patient lose weight and regain their health? That’s what we’re getting in Jackie Eberstein, a registered nurse who was right there from the very beginning in the 1970s when Dr. Atkins first started taking the arrows for his insistence on promoting a high-fat, low-carb dietary approach. Don’t you know Jackie has some stories to tell about Dr. Atkins and you’ll likely get to hear many of them when you come on the cruise. She’s also arguably the most knowledgeable Atkins diet expert in the world today as you can see on her web site Controlled Carbohydrate Nutrition.

DR. JAMES CARLSON
Although I only met him online just a few short months ago, Dr. James Carlson has already shown himself to be a staunch advocate of livin’ la vida low-carb and backs up everything he says with solid research and proof. As he did in his book entitled GENOCIDE!, Dr. Carlson will bring that passion and zeal for sharing the truth about low-carb living when he speaks to us on the cruise.

DANA CARPENDER
If you’ve been around the low-carb community for a little while, then there’s little doubt you’ve already heard of Dana Carpender. She is what I have described as the “Low-Carb Cooking Goddess” as she has authored numerous bestselling low-carb cookbooks over the years. Dana’s latest release is a companion book to Rob Thompson’s Glycemic Load Diet called The Glycemic Load Diet Cookbook with more signature Dana Carpender recipes for low-carbers to enjoy. You won’t want to miss Dana’s special cooking seminar on the cruise! Check out Dana’s fabulous web site HoldTheToast.com.

JUDY BARNES BAKER
One of the sweetest people you will ever meet in your life will be on this cruise and her name is Judy Barnes Baker, author of the fabulous low-carb cookbook that came out last year called CARB WARS: Sugar Is The New Fat. If you need to know anything about low-carb ingredients, including the various sugar alternatives, low-carb flour substitutes, and anything cooking-related, then Judy is your gal! I look forward to meeting her in person for the first time on the cruise and hearing what she has to share with all of us about her joys in the kitchen. Bookmark Judy’s CARB WARS Blog to see what she’s up to nowadays.

JIMMY & CHRISTINE MOORE
Christine and I will be serving as the emcees on the cruise introducing each of the special guests who will be on board with us. I have gotten to know each and every one of these low-carb celebrities since I started my blog a few years back and I am honored to have them be with us to share from their wealth of wisdom about the low-carb lifestyle. We are very thankful to all of our speakers because they are paying their own way to be with us with no compensation. That says a lot about their character that they’d be willing to spend their own time and money to be with people interested in learning more about low-carb. THANK YOU is the least I can say to each of them.

If you have someone who would like to come with you on the cruise who does not low-carb, that’s okay. There will be plenty of high-carb food options available on the cruise. And you will have to make your own choices about what you eat on board as the chefs are not making separate low-carb meals for us. However, as you can see from what I ate on the 2008 cruise, it is possible to eat low-carb even on a cruise ship. Come one, come all and we’ll have a great time soaking in the sun on our way to Mexico!

Now to the good news about the price reduction. The company we are using to book the cruise is called Vacations To Go and our Cruise Coordinator Becky Gandy just finished negotiating a price break for the low-carb cruise. There were two rates for a double occupancy room that have changed:

OCEANVIEW–Dropped from $460.19 per person down to $402.24 per person
INSIDE–Dropped from $400.19 per person down to $382.24 per person

There’s limited availability (about five cabins left as of the writing of this post) on the OCEANVIEW rooms, so you’ll need to book your reservation quickly if you want one of those rooms. We were all concerned after Hurricane Ike hit last month whether Galveston would be recovered well enough to accommodate doing cruises again. But we’ve been assured that they are ready to go and what better way to show our support for the Galveston area then by booking your seat on this low-carb cruise TODAY? :)

CLICK HERE to sign up for the cruise and remember you only have until mid-November to do this–hurry and join your fellow low-carbers on THE low-carb event of 2009! We can’t wait to meet you, spend time getting to know you, and learn from the REAL experts about healthy low-carb living. Contact Becky Gandy if you have any questions about the cruise by e-mailing her at xregandyx@yahoo.com.

We had so much fun last year. This would make a GREAT Christmas present!

I also want to let people know that if you have a family member or friend who would like to join you but are concerned about “diet police” — NOT to worry. First, everyone is free to eat on their “level”, AND second, the cruise line serves portion controlled fare with LOTS of healthy choices.

This cruise is INCLUSIVE — including taxes, port charges, and fuel surcharge. The ONLY thing not covered is alcohol, gambling, special excursions, and souveniers. We will get a $75 per cabin rebate on the ship-bill. They charge a $50 tip at the END of the cruise, so this rebate covers that cost too!

WHAT A DEAL! Hope you can join us!

  • Aww you lucky devilSSS… Pitty Im gonna miss out this time, but next time 2010? I will be there !

That sounds like SO MUCH FUN!!!! I wish I could go! Maybe I could finally convince my husband to go low carb with all those experts around! Keep us posted on the next one, Jimmy! :)

I wish I could go. Do you think in 2010, if you organize another cruise then, you could change the timing so it doesn’t coincide with the Right to Life March in Washington, DC (January 22)?

Didn’t realize it was going on at the same time and the cruise dates are set by Carnival. Hope you can come the next time.

    –Jimmy
