Dr. Barry Groves continues sharing about his latest book “Trick And Treat”
Dr. Barry Groves is one of the most passionate researchers and advocates for a high-fat, low-carb diet today and you can see why in his newest release Trick And Treat: How ‘Healthy Eating’ Is Making Us Ill. If you missed Part 1 of my interview with Dr. Groves, then go back and listen to the introduction to this fabulous new low-carb health and nutrition book before listening to today’s podcast.
In Episode 190 of “The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore,” Dr. Barry Groves continues with Part 2 of a special two-part interview about his book Trick And Treat. As you will hear in today’s episode, Dr. Groves quite literally addresses many of the modern health mysteries and myths that pervade out there–salt intake, sunlight exposure, soy consumption, exercise, the low-fat lie, pregnancy on a low-carb diet, and so much more! I was privileged to interview Dr. Groves who has been extremely busy this week doing interviews about his book releasing next week which has already shot to #1 on Amazon.co.uk under “Public Health and Preventive Medicine” and #158 overall. WOW! Let’s help push Trick And Treat to the top of the U.S. Amazon charts, too!

Coming up next week for the last two podcast shows in October, I’m pleased to share my interviews with two individuals I found on YouTube: Dr. Michael Berglund on Monday and Penny Hoff on Thursday. I first found out about Dr. Berglund a few months ago when I saw this YouTube video he did on Tim Russert’s untimely death. If you pay close attention to what Dr. Berglund says in that video, you’ll see he understands the healthy benefits of low-carb living. WOO HOO! You’re gonna love what this Wisconsin-based chiropractor has to say. As for Penny Hoff, she too is making some outstanding YouTube videos showing the “chronically-challenged” generation that exercise is NOT impossible. Penny is a supporter of low-carb (and enthusiastically says as much during my interview with her) and recently released a book through my publisher Booklocker entitled Fitness Rants For The Chronologically Enriched.

Listening right now, I have my own thoughts about salt.
My father is on drugs for high blood pressure. When I first went low carb, I found out that the drugs he was taking were diuretics; designed to flush out extra water. That’s exactly what my new diet was doing… keeping my body from retaining extra water. So, you have extra water in your system, the salt dissolves in it and your circulatory pressure goes up. But what if I don’t have that extra water in my body? Wouldn’t that affect how much salt could be dissolved and how high my blood pressure would go???
In short, if my father is taking diuretics for high blood pressure, and my diet does it naturally, why should I really fear salt like the plague? Not scientific at all, but something I was pondering.
