Thanks for responding. I like your part where you said your body just wont want calories if you go low-carb. I wonder about the fruit I eat as they are carbs and taste so good.
Bill
That fruit is very likely stimulating an insulin response which makes you want even more carbohydrates. It's a ruthless cycle even with so-called "healthy" carb sources like fruit.

Dear Jimmy,
I have heard a few of your podcasts recently and you talk about a calorie is a calorie as if it is something important. I am Paleo thus I eat fruit, roots, meats, and nuts and that is about it. But I could care less about calories. During summer/fall, carbs abound and thus your body puts on fat. During winter there is only meat around thus you burn fat. So maybe I should be on Atkins induction during the winter, and Paleo during the summer.
But the idea is your body will never say no to carbs as you can always burn that fat later. You might hunt a little slower, but you are preparing for famine.
Also computers, corn, and tv might be the biggest reason people are fat today and not necessarily carbs.
Anyways it is 3 am and I am going to bed,
Thanks Bill
THANKS for your comments, Bill, but I'm not sure where you got the idea that I think calories are relevant when it comes to human nutrition. Watch this YouTube video Christine and I recently did and read this blog post to see what I think about calorie-counting. :) I appreciate your comments!

The word 'alone' is a total crock. The taubes video on google (hour long) really explains the problem. I have no doubt jr and his dad are consuming more junk food and calories then 20 -30 years ago. Junk food tends to hide a lot of calories in them, but that 'alone' is a far cry to what the problem is. ConAgra and the like need to stop pushing carbs like AJ Reynolds pushed tabacco in order to save our health.
EXACTLY PJ! Blaming it all solely on a simple increase in calories is absurd. What if they ate the same amount of calories they do now except divvy them up between mostly fat and protein? I think we'd see much different results in obesity and disease than we do today.

Atkins always acknowledged that vegatarians could do the atkins diet. Supplements would be needed to make up what is missing from meat
This is true, PJ, although FORCING people to eat a vegetarian Atkins diet to somehow make it "better" than the meat-based one is what I did not like about that "Eco-Atkins" study. THANKS for your comments!
