7-Year Blogiversary Giveaway Contest Prize Package Post #1

Here’s the fun part of celebrating my Blogiversary during the month of April–PRIZES! I announced my 7-Year Blogiversary Giveaway Contest on Tuesday and I’ve already received over 200 enthusiastic entries so far (with some very kind words from so many of you–THANK YOU)! I suppose the GRAND PRIZE of the new 2012 version of the iPad didn’t hurt, but there’s so much more to share with you in terms of prizes. The answers to my survey questions have been quite illuminating and I can’t wait to assimilate all of that information into a nice recap blog post sometime in May or June. Have you entered the contest yet? You have plenty of time to get me your entry by 11:59PM EST on Friday, April 27, 2012. E-mail me your answers to the following questions to become eligible for a prize in my 7-Year Blogiversary Giveaway Contest. Be sure to put in the subject line “BLOGIVERSARY CONTEST”:

1. Your first and last name, mailing address (no P.O. boxes please), and telephone number.
2. What is your current eating plan and how long have you been eating this way?
3. Where does your diet fall in the definition of low-carb as published in the journal Nutrition and Metabolism in 2009? LCKD, LCD, MCD or HCD?
4. Who are the top 5 trusted resources you turn to for quality information about health?
5. Do you consume “safe starches” like sweet potatoes, white potatoes and white rice as part of your nutritional plan? Why or why not? If so, what specific starchy foods do you consume?
6. What do you do for exercise? How often do you workout? How long have you been doing this routine?
7. How long have you been reading the “Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb” blog? How did you find it?
8. In 2012, are/have you attending/attended any of the three major low-carb/Paleo conferences (PaleoFX in March, Low-Carb Cruise in May or Ancestral Health Symposium in August)? Which ones did/will you attend and why? If you did/will not attend, why not?
9. Have you listened to my brand new podcast “Ask The Low-Carb Experts” yet? If not, why not? If so, what do you think so far? Are there any suggested topics you’d like me to bring up?
10. How many more years do you think it will take before high-fat, low-carb nutrition is accepted and embraced as a healthy lifestyle in the United States? What needs to happen to bring about that paradigm shift in thinking?

While I’m sure many of you hope to win that new iPad, here are some of the other prizes that could be yours if you are chosen as a winner in my 7-Year Blogiversary Giveaway Contest:

More Splendid Low-Carbing, Splendid Low-Carbing for Life Volume 2 and Low-Carbing Among Friends

One of my favorite people in the online low-carb community is a wonderfully delightful woman named Jennifer Eloff. She’s been writing some highly successful cookbooks for many years and along with her husband Ian has created an exciting new series of recipe books featuring some of the top names in the low-carb blogosphere. The series is called Low-Carbing Among Friends and Volume 1 released in 2011. I interviewed Jennifer and Ian in Episode 515 of “The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show” where they outlined their vision for this new series of books to bring the low-carb community together. I’m honored to be a part of this series offering a small chapter in Volume 1, writing a “state of the low-carb community” in Volume 2 releasing in a few months and contributing 60 low-carb recipes for Volume 3 coming out in late 2012. One lucky winner will receive two of Jennifer’s bestselling low-carb cookbooks plus Volume 1 of Low-Carbing Among Friends!

One-year membership to the Paleo Plan meal guide and accompanying e-book

Are you new to Paleo and want to dive right into trying it for yourself…but you don’t really know where to start? Never fear because experienced help is here! Check out Boulder, CO-based Certified Integrative Clinical Nutrition Therapist Neely Quinn and her exciting new Paleo Plan program. I interviewed Neely in Episode 523 of “The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show” where she shared about her role as Personal Paleo Coach for the members of the Paleo Plan. She’s committed to helping people change their nutrition that in turn improves their health for the better. One lucky winner will receive a complimentary one-year membership to the Paleo Plan as well as the Quickstart Guide & Paleo Challenge e-book! And don’t you dare miss Neely’s brand new book (along with her co-author Jason Glaspey) that just released on April 3, 2012 entitled The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Eating Paleo.

Farewell Club Perma-Chub book

I adore the work that former attorney and sugar addict-no-more Jill Escher is doing to help bring awareness to the serious health consequences that come from being addiction to sugar. She is the founder of the Sugar Addiction Awareness Coalition seeking to educate the public about why sugar is at the center of any discussion about obesity and health. With the recent appearance by Dr. Robert Lustig (of “Sugar: The Bitter Truth” fame) on “60 Minutes” last Sunday, this topic is as important as it has ever been! Jill has been a guest on my “Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show” podcast in Episode 550 discussing her fabulous book Farewell Club Perma-Chub: A Sugar Addict’s Guide To Easy Weight Loss which she gave me the great pleasure and honor of writing the foreword to. And five lucky winners will receive a copy of this outstanding book for their own low-carb library collection. You can read more about Jill’s incredible story of beating her own sugar addiction in this “Fab Over 50” column.

Vanilla Primal Fuel and Chocolate Primal Fuel with Blender Bottle

One of the most highly-respected and trusted sources of health information on the Internet today is none other than the great Mark Sisson from “Mark’s Daily Apple.” He was a recent guest in Episode 5 of my brand new LIVE podcast on Thursday nights called “Ask The Low-Carb Experts” and has been on “The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show” many times before (listen here, here and here). I consider Mark a great friend and admire the way he has made primal living accessible to literally hundreds of thousands of people through his popular blog and Primal Blueprint books in recent years. The man is living proof of the high-fat, moderate protein, low-carb nutritional approach with the right kind of fitness that goes against what conventional wisdom has taught us. He’s taken the diet and health habits of our early ancestors and made them modern through a variety of methodologies and products designed to help modern man survive the dangers and allures of the modern world. One of those things he created is his fantastic protein powder he calls Primal Fuel (listen to my brief interview with Mark about this product in December 2010) and one lucky winner will receive a canister of the Chocolate and Vanilla flavors along with a convenient Blender Bottle.

Nourished e-book by Judy Barnes Baker

One of my dearest, most cherished friends in the low-carb community is a dear lady named Judy Barnes Baker who has done her part providing the low-carb community with some really delectable healthy dishes ever since the release of her debut cookbook Carb Wars: Sugar Is The New Fat back in 2007. As she shared last year in Episode 469 of “The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show” last year, that book got her noticed by a representative of the American Diabetes Association who asked her to write a book for them that would be an official ADA-recommended cookbook for people with diabetes. If you haven’t heard this unbelievable story, then you need to go listen to that podcast! Needless to say that book with the ADA stamp of approval didn’t happen and yet Judy released it on her own in late 2011 under the titled Nourished: A Cookbook for Health, Weight Loss, and Metabolic Balance. She’s set to release it in e-book form soon where it will be compatible with Kindle, Fire, Nook, or the iPad. And three lucky readers will be one of the first ones to see this special e-book!

I have only yet to begin to share with you all of the amazing prizes in store for you in my 7-Year Blogiversary Giveaway Contest. Don’t miss your chance to get in on this golden opportunity to win some really neat prizes, so get me your entries to livinlowcarbman@charter.net before the deadline on April 27, 2012. Don’t miss the other prize package posts in the coming days and weeks. And GOOD LUCK to you in winning a prize from the random drawing later this month! You guys are helping me celebrate seven glorious years of low-carb blogging excellence.
