Time flies when you’re having fun and that must mean we’re having a whole lotta fun here at the “Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb” blog. Who knew when this blog was created on April 21, 2005 by a former 410-pound man who lost triple-digit weight following a healthy low-carb lifestyle in 2004 that it would not only still be around in 2011–but also STILL seeing an increase in traffic and tremendous interest from people struggling to find the answers to their own weight and health woes? But here we are going strong and I have no plans in the foreseeable future of going anywhere.
I’m a man on a mission to spread the word about how livin’ la vida low-carb is indeed a viable option for people struggling with obesity, diabetes, heart disease, epilepsy, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease, cancer and a whole host of other chronic diseases. My three-pronged goal from the very beginning has been to educate, encourage, and inspire others as they take their own journey to better health by implementing a high-fat, moderate protein, low-carb nutritional approach to help make that happen. Six years and nearly 6 million blog hits later, I’d say we’re doing just that!
People often ask me where I get the energy to wake up everyday and do what I do. From blogging here, the torrid recording schedule for my highly successful podcast, regular YouTube videos, a brand new podcast, my latest book 21 Life Lessons From Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb and everything else I do to keep the low-carb community informed about what’s happening in the low-carb universe, I do stay quite busy most of the time. But I’m power-fueled by (fat and protein!) a sincere desire and passion to share the truths I have learned along the way in a format that is hopefully entertaining yet informative. I know my style isn’t for everyone, but I gotta stay authentic about who and what I am in everything I do. There’s nothing worse than people who pretend they are something they’re not. Most of what I do is a true labor of love and I’m honored by the daily presence of my readers. Whenever you support one of my sponsors or make a financial donation to me, it says you find value in what I offer and want to see it continue. While I’m certainly not getting rich blogging about low-carb diets, I’m very blessed to be able to pay my bills and take care of that darling wife of mine and possibly the child(ren) she may be bearing soon if our embryo transfer procedure works. I’ve gotten to meet so many truly amazing human beings along the way through e-mails, in person at obesity conferences, on the Annual Low-Carb Cruise, at low-carb meetups, and everywhere else this “job” takes me. When I tell people I’m a “health blogger/podcaster” for a living, I get some really funny looks. Hey, it’s not your everyday 9-5 job–it’s SO MUCH MORE! And again, I wouldn’t trade this job for anything right now despite the fact I probably “work” 70-80 hours a week.
As has become my tradition since I celebrated one year of blogging in 2006, I like to take this time to reflect and show my appreciation by offering my wonderful readers a chance to win some really nice prizes.
