I enjoyed this interview and in particular found the potted history of agriculture to be absolutely fascinating, short though it was. I'll definitely be getting this book as it's good to see the issues of a meat-inclusive diet from an ex-vegetarian's point of view.
<i>THANKS Rip! Lierre was a special interview.

Lierre Keith is a treasure. Her writing style is compelling and voluptuous. BUY THIS book and you will be changed, angered and inspired by it and her. Maybe this statement will make sense to you when you do...wheat is murder. I eat low-carb, but I am now, as of having devoured The VEgetarian Myth going against the grain, literally and I'm a non-wheat eater forever moore!!!

Hi Jimmy, Loved this interview . I also wish it could have been longer. Hopefully someday I'll get my hands on this book. I would love to read it. Tried my local library but no luck.
<i>Get your own copy and you'll be glad you did.

Another great interview--I just wish it could be longer. Here's one vote for an encore. Having lived in Berkeley CA for more than 15 years, this book really evokes some memories. I imagine that it will be more powerful among vegans than just about anything out there. I too dabbled in the politics of food in the 1990s, with checkered bouts of vegetarianism and veganism. Fortunately, I was too weak-willed and also too cynical really to commit myself. I ruined my metabolism with low-fat/high-carb, but I never managed to actually give up dairy for very long. This book should be stacked high right next to those piles of _The China Study_ that grace Wholey Foods. That would be a wonderful thing for the world.
<i>I have a feeling she'll be back again. She was one of my faves too!

I read the book and found it to be interesting and a good read. I've passed it onto my wife (a lacto-ovo vegetarian) and she's started reading it. The one thing I wish was addressed was mycoprotein based meat alternatives such as Quorn and their role in the various areas addresses.
