‘Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show’ Episode 263: Dr. Malcolm Kendrick Says The Cholesterol/Heart Hypothesis Is A ‘Con’

Dr. Malcolm Kendrick says the cholesterol/heart hypothesis is bunk!

Eating saturated fat and cholesterol is unhealthy for you because they clog your arteries, raise your cholesterol levels, and lead to heart attacks, cardiovascular disease and death. Or so we’ve been told. This cholesterol/heart health theory that has been floating around out there ever since Ancel Keys proposed the theory decades ago that started the whole low-fat diet movement in earnest. Tom Naughton brilliantly illustrates this in his 2008 documentary film FAT HEAD:

In Episode 263 of “The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore,” we are privileged to hear from UK-based physician and bestselling author Dr. Malcolm Kendrick who wrote a groundbreaking book entitled The Great Cholesterol Con: The Truth About What Really Causes Heart Disease and How to Avoid It. He has committed himself to exposing the scam that is the cholesterol/heart hypothesis because he knows better based on the evidence. Hear Dr. Kendrick talk about how he got involved in this issue, why he decided to become such a vocal opponent of the conventional theory behind cholesterol and heart health, the problem with taking statin drugs and why women should NEVER take them, the history behind how fat and cholesterol got vilified, the negative role carbohydrates play in obesity and diabetes, his personal reaction to Gary Taubes’ Good Calories, Bad Calories, what it’s gonna take to alter the incorrect thinking about cholesterol and heart health, and so much more! This is one man who knows and understands what is REALLY happening as it relates to heart health–and it’s NOT the cholesterol or saturated fat either.

After years of pursuing this interview, I’m so privileged and honored to finally bring you this one-hour interview with one of the true giants in the low-carb community. Hi, this is a technical question,

I don’t know what is wrong but I have not been receiving your automatic podcasts to my itunes. The last one I have is from May 18th. Should I be going something? Thanks – I love your podcasts & have lost 30 lbs since listening.

This year I lost, at an average rate of one pound per week, 37 pounds. It was almost entirely a result of cutting out carbs. I also took certain metabolism-correcting amino’s like arginine, carnitine, and glutamine, plus various antioxidants and Omega-3′s.

At first I’d tried that exact diet but included “healthy complex carbs” (also “practically one word,” lol!) I could not lose an ounce, indicating that my metabolism was not corrected, so stored fat was not eaten.

After I cut out carbs and lost weight for a couple of months, summer rolled around and I felt it must surely be ok to eat some of the great sun-ripened fruits and berries. Unfortunately, that caused lots of problems I won’t go into here. It was disappointing, but I’m just saying it because for SOME of us, even that healthy form of fructose is still poison.

This may be because I was raised on high fructose corn syrup and white bread. My infant formula, in the 50′s, was 70% karo syrup. So I just want to let people know, they may have more to reverse than seems logical. Yet if you tell friends/doctors you can’t eat “healthy complex carbs” and “healthy sun-ripened fruit” they get apoplectic in their defense of those foods. You almost have to keep it a secret!

So thank you GREATLY for putting this information out there. Oh, and as you know, Big Pharma doesn’t like you, because these diets correct your metabolism, naturally normalizing cholesterol and triglyceride levels. They can’t make money that way, and statins are the biggest-selling drugs out there. So everybody, keep a lookout for bogus industry-produced “articles” that try to give a bad name to things like leptin. They’re out there and they’re evil!!!

The problem is, you will never convince the Medical Fraternity in General. They will continue to teach students this fat-myth.
I wouldn’t touch vegetable oil (Except occasionally Olive oil because I like the taste in Mediterranean food.) I eat a lot of red meat and fish, butter cheese and cream. I refused to take statins, much to the displeasure of my Doctor. (So much disapproval, that I took the prescription, filled it out, and just put the boxes on the shefl in my bathroom.) Anything for a quiet life!

My cholesterol levels show readings of just over 5. Less than average I am told. So my Doctor thinks the statins are working,  (although no tests were taken before she prescribed) and public money is being wasted, as I don’t have to pay for my drugs.
Mind boggling mis-science. (Is there any such word? probably not, but then there’s no real danger in eating fat either, unless you take starchy carbs with it.
