Jimmy, I'm not sure they would all say the same thing. Johnson, for instance (I'm looking forward to
your podcast with him) is clear in his book that he thinks potatoes and flour are fine, since they don't affect uric acid, unlike HFCS which he thinks is what causes obesity. Davis, on the other hand, says the one most important thing anyone can do for their diet is avoid wheat. Gundry, who you had on the other day, agrees with Taubes about carbs, but says in his book that eating a lot of meat will shorten your life by 6 to 9 years. They agree about a lot, but they have important differences, too.
<i>I'm not saying they will all agree, but the common thread in all of these ideas is carbs.

Vote for one:
The main culprit in the American diet is:
1. Carbs (Gary Taubes),
2. Wheat (William Davis).
3. High Fructose Corn Syrup (Richard Johnson)
4. Processed food (Michael Pollan)
<i>Actually, Peter, this is a bit of a trick question on your part because if you look closely at all four choices, they all have one thing in common--carbohydrates! So, if people answered that Taubes has it right with "carbs" as the main culprit in the American diet (although, a culprit in what? Obesity? Heart disease? Cancer? You didn't specify.), then it would encompass everything Dr. Davis, Dr. Johnson, and Pollan have said as well. Right?
